Arizona State University permanently severed ties with the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity late Thursday, just days after suspending the local chapter over accusations it hosted a distasteful party in commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
University officials notified the fraternity of its decision and said the school is continuing to investigate members of the chapter and students who attended the party for violations of the ASU Code of Conduct, MyFoxPhoenix.com reported.
"At ASU, students who violate these standards will be subject to disciplinary sanctions in order to promote their own personal development, to protect the university community, and to maintain order and stability on our campuses, " ASU President Michael Crow told the station.

So I presume that their Christmas party was in no way “distasteful” celebration of Christ’s birthday.
The Left treats its icons as gods, and punish those who insufficiently worship them.
Yes, this seriously sounded like a reaction to blasphemy,
akin to defaming the prophet Muhamed.
Paddles aren't just whimsical decorations with big-little brother dedications imprinted; the Omegas ('the Qs') actually use them.
Watch an NFL game and you often see huge Σ shaped scars on the biceps of players who were Sigmas thanks to brandings with hot wire hangers. Hard to deny that ritual took place! Emmitt Smith proudly mentioned his.
As you might expect, these organizations conduct their activities with nary a word spoken; indeed, any scrutiny would have them firing up the racial persecution air raid sirens.
The Oxford English Dictionary will soon be forced to add 'double standard' as a synonym for 'tolerance.'
College kids being insensitive and politically incorrect. What a shock. :-)
Arizona had the Super Bowl taken away because they, at that time, didn’t observe MLK’s birthday.
Universities and the District of Corruption are the last places on earth that believe communism works.

And I thought the Hunter Diaries were fantasy fiction....
Whoops..no sleep...frozen livestock
Turner Diaries.
Sounds a bit totalitarian... not to mention judgmental. Isn't it all about diversity? Or, is the crypto-subtext "diversity in skin and uniformity in thought".
He’ll! Back in the 60’s (I know!) the TKEs were the rowdiest bunch on the very conservative campus I attended. They were known as goons and not too bright, but threw a helluva party!
So they are jerks...so what?
Nice alliteration!
“Where are American conservatives?”
Out working to make a living in order to send our kids to these schools. Time to retake the schools it seems.
“Hell! Back in the 60s (I know!) the TKEs were the rowdiest bunch on the very conservative campus I attended.”
It was the same at my university in the ‘80’s. We used to tweek them whenever we came up against them in an I-M ballgame or some other intra-fraternity activity:
“If you can’t go Greek, go TKE (TEEK)!
Used to p*ss them off. But really they were a pretty good bunch of guys.
If you can't go Greek go TKE. Their parties always ended in a fight.
Aw thanks - I was hoping someone would notice :)
Weren’t these the people mocking ‘law and order’ rhetoric from Nixon et al?
I’m not certain what you mean about “Fiji” parties at fraternities. FIJI is the commonly used name for the fraternity Phi Gamma Delta.
A TKE threw a whiskey bottle at Eddie Shultz during broadcast during NDSU football game in 1980’s when he was the voice of the Bison. He came out of the booth and starting fighting with crowd... TKE have always been known hard partiers when I went to school
Hmm, we always did 40s and blunts on MLK day.
At my school, a Fraternity on probation wasn’t allowed to have parties*. Even a party where everyone wore Che shirts, burnt american flags, and then blamed everything on George Bush would result in the charter being yanked.
Then again, pretty much any fraternity party that was open to the general school body would result in a suspension.
Off campus activity...
