The owners of a Christian bakery who refused to make a wedding cake for a lesbian couple are facing hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines after they were found guilty of violating the couples civil rights.
The Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries said they found substantial evidence that Sweet Cakes by Melissa discriminated against the lesbian couple and violated the Oregon Equality Act of 2007, a law that protects the rights of the LGBT community.
Last year, the bakerys owners refused to make a wedding cake for Rachel Cryer and Laurel Bowman, of Portland, citing their Christian beliefs. The couple then filed a complaint with the state.
Aaron Klein told me there will be no reconciliation and there will be no rehabilitation. The investigation concludes that the bakery is not a religious institution under the law and that the business policy of refusing to make same-sex wedding cakes represents unlawful discrimination based on sexual orientation, said Charlie Burr, a spokesman for the Bureau of Labor and Industries.

I went to their website last night http://www.sweetcakesweb.com/ and saw they are going to have cookies soon and plan to order some and anything else that might be mail order. Also provided some words of encouragement. Nice looking couple who answer to a much higher power than our court system. . .the Lord Jesus Christ. God will not be mocked.
I seriously had a deranged waiter (who worked for my husband and was always crying ‘racism!’) give me a plate of food with Scotch Bonnets hidden within. Not only does it happen, it happened to me!
Yeah, that was my first take on the title -
“guilty” is a legal term and has specific meaning, requiring conviction in a court of law.
It’s not about equality. It’s about punishing anyone who does not openly celebrate their perverted lifestyle.
First they wanted “tolerance”, and we tolerated them.
Then they demanded “equality”, and we treated them equally under the law.
Now they’re demanding SUPREMACY.
Freedom of religion exists for individuals, not institutions. The Soviets did the same thing, redefining everything as a group right, and nothing as an individual right.
Yeah, well...the US Government is guilty of violating the 1st amendment and the religious rights of Christian bakery.
Send them to the reeducation camps!
The LGBT community is liable for threatening the safety and wellbeing of this family and charges should be brought against organizations representing LGBT’ers, for it is against the law to make bodily threats. All that need be shown is the quite visible and well documented hostility of the LGBT community against the community of faith, following their moral conviction.
Also, this board’s decision to punish this family is not a court decision and therefore this family has a right to take this board and their decision to a higher court and reverse the charge of civil rights under the Constitution of the United States. As courts are always overturning state propositions dully passed by the citizens of the state, this board and their decision too, should have to stand before a court and found unconstitutional.
Seems like a slam dunk state court appeal.
Our liberties are diminishing at warp speeds these days. Thanks, homos.
Hmmm...good idea. How does one identify a Liberal bakery? Liberals are not proud of their history and ancestry. They rarely advertise their ideology.
How about the 13th amendment?
Seems to me that the government is requiring these bakers to provide their talent and labor against their will without criminal conviction in a court of law.
Forcing someone to celebrate someone's "marriage" in a way that is personally offensive to your religious beliefs is a violation of civil rights too. In at least one of the states where such a case came up, even the state itself did not recognize same sex marriages (yet the baker was charged with discrimination).
Can I force a muslim bakery to use pig lard in the product if I request it?
Can I compel a grocery store to make a birthday cake for Hitler (a dead conquering warlord on par with mad man Mohammed)?
Can you bake someone a cake and give them the frosting to write the text? A publisher cannot be forced to publish a book that offends them.
The black robed tyrants have found all sorts of things in the Constitution that aren’t there. That doesn’t make them Constitutional.
Which is why I prefer to eat at home.
Me too!
Also, as an alternative lifestyle, they don't necessarily want something "conventional" or (if you are lesbian) representative of the "patriarchal" view of the world.
So homosexuals can specialize in same sex weddings but no one is permitted to cite moral arguments for specializing in traditional marriages?
The lavender mafia are bullies.
