The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you. This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. There is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!
NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.
“plus I wrote a paper explaining why all males and females act like they do - that took a little time.”
Good Heavens!! ROTFL!!!!!!
Thanks for the giggle. I needed that. :)
Root powder is powered rooting hormone, It helps produce roots fast in cuttings. Buy it at a garden center.

plus I wrote a paper explaining why all males and females act like they do
It’s two full pages explaining human behavior. :0)
I'm finally back home, I don't know for how long. This has been the most miserable 5 days I've had in a long time. I'm still coughing and hacking. On the other hand, it was a perfectly lovely 5 days except for the almost ready to go to ER cold/flu whatever.

You said: “There is no good (or rational) explanation.”
Yes, there is, you just don't know it.
When you feel better I'll send you
HUMAN BEHAVIOR - A SCHEMATIC DESCRIPTION
by Marcella Derrick, Ph.D.
This is my own work and is proven over and over by human behavior - it's a schematic of human behavior for scientific minded like you and the engineer and there is a formula in order to remain scientific: S=B.
Hope you feel better soon and don't end up in ER.
I'm slowly getting over it. I didn't cough up a lung today.
Saturday was the worst.

Males and females are programed by their genes and they follow those impulses unconsciously. You did, too. So, see, you are not crazy (but neither is your spouse, darn it). :0)
Eat fresh raw jalapenos. I think they are the cure for everything.

yikes! Eating fresh raw jalapenos would put me in the hospital with a near fatal case of intestinal distress.
I doubt that..you're a tough Texas gal..

Me too.
“My rain barrel is way too low for this time of year.”
Hmm, I’m supposed to have rain in the middle of the night tonight and in the morning. Wonder how this missed you?
Can ya tell me what herbs in particular you are looking for? I know you want Rosemary.
Okay.
Rooting Powder helps to form roots... Link below:

More complete instructions from an extension office:

The bottle of root powder will have full instructions. It helps if the bottom of the stem is damp so that more powder will stick to the stem.
Any of the seed starting mediums and/or vermiculite can be used. I usually keep the pot inside. I have clear bags that I buy for bread that I use to make a little green house. Just put the pot inside the bag, with a stick or old skewer.
Fasten the bag to the skewer with a clothespin. Or you can put a few sticks in the pot and cover with saran wrap. The propagation medium is damp, and covering it keeps it that way without a need to constantly water.
I do leave a teeny space or poke a teeny hole for a little air. Put it under your grow lights.
Do not doubt me on this. :(
I really need some rain.
I use only rainwater for starting seeds and watering seedlings.
