Is anyone else creeped out by Downton Abbey? I watch parts of it because I love to see the house and the grounds and to see Maggie Smith. Some of the acting is very good but generally the story line makes me cranky.

Just realized I sound like a troll trying to promote a website. It is amusing but I just don’t have the skill set to cut and paste it. If someone else could I would appreciate it. It is quite amusing.

What's the real message in this story?? We've already met the fag..the adventurous madam, the widow capable of making decisions with total disregard of her father...
I'm trying to find any sense of happiness...there is none.

A soap opera going nowhere in the story line. If there is a story line. Almost like a 1920’s reality show.

Two of my Christmas presents this year were Downton Abbey Shortbread Cookies and Downton Abbey Mincemeat Tarts. I was delighted, but yeah, the whole series was a rather crappy, period piece soap opera. Pretty funny reading the FB version.

Please let us know when your superior soap opera premieres on PBS. Millions of us deserve better than Downton.

I actually really enjoyed watching the series, but in the end felt a bit cheated because it pretty much was basically just a soap opera.

Well, yeah. What else could it be? All the beautiful shots in and around the castle would be worthless if the actors just stood around looking pretty. LOL! The series showcases the castle, so within those confines, what else could they do? Comedy? Adventure? Song & Dance? Opera? Sit-Com? Reality? Game show?
A lot of Shakespeare is soap opera too. Human nature being what it is, cheap drama with tension, conflict, sex, scandal and cliff-hanger endings sells, and the media producers know it. So, enjoy it for what it is.

Maybe it was disappointing because I’m a P.G. Wodehouse fan.
