Will Mittens the Kitten Get to Experience an Afterlife? [contains cute kitty pix]

The social status of family pets has gone from being the dirty, hairy thing on the front porch whose primary job was to make table scraps disappear, to being full-blown members of the family who often get better treatment than their human siblings do. Our pets have earned this status through loyalty and love, but have they earned a spot in the afterlife?

According to Frisky the wonder tigress, it’s all up to the Great Cat, but it’s probably not too soon for two-leggers to abandon hope of being allowed into Kitty Heaven.

Me too Slings and Arrows!

If dogs and cats aren't allowed then I will just go where they are allowed.

I sure love the little creatures :-)

I just found some links: (I don’t know the sources)

http://www.slideshare.net/frontfel/will-animals-be-in-heaven

http://www.woodhavenlabs.com/animals-heaven2.html

Personally, I do think our loved animals will be in Heaven. How many prayers have been prayed by children who were grieving over a pet, and the child prayed that God would take his pet to Heaven? I don’t think the answer to all those millions of prayers is “no.”

I fully expect to see mine again, little pug tails wiggling.

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead. He remembered dying, and that his faithful dog had been dead for many years. He wondered where the road was leading them. After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. As he reached the wall, he saw a magnificent gate in the arch, and the street that led to the gate made from pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.

When he was close enough, he called out, “Excuse me, where are we?”

“This is heaven, sir,” the man answered.

“Wow! Would you happen to have some water? We have traveled far,” the man said.

“Of course, sir. Come right in, and I’ll have some ice water brought right up.”

The man gestured, and the gate began to open.

“Can my friend,” gesturing toward his dog, “come in, too?” the traveler asked.

“I’m sorry, sir, but we don’t accept pets.”

The man thought a moment, remembering all the years this dog remained loyal to him and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going. After another long walk he came to a plain dirt road, which led through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.

“Excuse me!” he called to the reader. “Do you have any water? We have traveled far.”

“Yes, sure, there’s a faucet over there.” The man pointed to a place that couldn’t be seen from outside the gate. “Come on in and help yourself.”

“How about my friend here?” the traveler gestured to his dog.

“There should be a bowl by the faucet; he is welcome to share.”

They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned faucet with a bowl beside it. The traveler filled the bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog. When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree waiting for them.

“What do you call this place?” the traveler asked.

“This is heaven,” was the answer.

“Well, that’s confusing,” the traveler said. “The man down the road said that was heaven, too.”

“Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That’s hell.”

“Doesn’t it make you mad for them to use your name like that?”

“No. We’re just happy that they screen out the folks who’d leave their best friends behind in exchange for material things.”

I didn’t write this, don’t know who did. But, I’ll sign on to it.

The House Dog’s Grave
(for Haig, an English bulldog)

I’ve changed my ways a little; I cannot now
Run with you in the evenings along the shore,
Except in a kind of dream; and you, if you dream a moment,
You see me there.

So leave awhile the paw-marks on the front door
Where I used to scratch to go out or in,
And you’d soon open; leave on the kitchen floor
The marks of my drinking-pan.

I cannot lie by your fire as I used to do
On the warm stone,
Nor at the foot of your bed; no, all the nights through
I lie alone.

But your kind thought has laid me less than six feet
Outside your window where firelight so often plays,
And where you sit to read- and I fear often grieving for me-
Every night your lamplight lies on my place.

You, man and woman, live so long, it is hard
To think of you ever dying.
A little dog would get tired, living so long.
I hope that when you are lying

Under the ground like me your lives will appear
As good and joyful as mine.
No, dears, that’s too much hope: you are not so well cared for
As I have been.

And never have known the passionate undivided
Fidelities that I knew.
Your minds are perhaps too active, too many-sided….
But to me you were true.

You were never masters, but friends. I was your friend.
I loved you well, and was loved. Deep love endures
To the end and far past the end. If this is my end,
I am not lonely. I am not afraid. I am still yours.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Human siblings? Please, I love my dog, but I am not his “mommy”. That is just stupid. Humans and canines are not equal, and it is leftists who push the idea that humans are not a special species.

Just so long as all the dogs are on the other side of the heavenly city.

I don’t want to spend eternity living next door to some dog that barks non-stop all day. I’ve had enough of that in this life.

A human is body, soul, and spirit. A kitty is body and soul, no spirit. BUT, the soul of that kitty's life is not bound by spacetime which binds the body of the kitty.

The soul uses the vehicle of the physical body which is tuned (by the creator) to sense the spacetime (a where/when) limits of the physical universe of our experience. But there is at least one more where/when which is not limited the same as our senses.

The Bible gives us witness to the existence of this 'other' where/when with scenes like the fifth chapter of Daniel and the scene at the sepulcher of Jesus burial and the upper room scene and the scene on the road to Amaias and many more.

This other where/when has space and time reality, but the variables of space and time are not in sinc with our physical body senses thus we do not sense the other directly. Our bodies are tuned to experience three variable of space (length, width, height) and one variable expression of time (present, well actually past, since we sense only those event effects which have happened already).

I happen to believe that the soul has anchor in this 'other' where/when and thus exists in space and time different from the body, so upon death ALL living things withdraw to this 'other' where/when, including little angel kitties.

I hope those legends of the Rainbow Bridge are true, because there are furry friends I'd love to see again before I pass myself.

On New Year’s Day, our associate priest told us a joke as part of his homily. This is quite an accomplishment for him since he is newly ordained and comes from Colombia, so his English is pretty hard to understand sometimes. He know he’s getting through to us when we laugh at the appropriate time!

Here goes:

Patrick, an old Irishman, lived with his dog for many years after his wife died and his children left. One day, his faithful dog died, and Patrick went down to the chuch to see Fr. Michael about a buriel.

“Father Mike,” Patrick says, “Me dog has been me faithful companion for many years and I would like to give him a proper buriel with a Mass for his soul. Everything the best.”

Fr. Michael replies, “I’m sorry, Pat, but Mother Church does not allow us to say Masses for animals. That Holy sacrement is reserved for people. Why don’t you go down the road to the Baptists to see if they have a ceremony appropriate for your dog.”

“Father, perhaps you can advise me, then. I don’t know much about the Baptists. How much should I pay for their ceremony? Would $5000 be about right?”

“Faith and Begorrah, Pat! You didn’t mention that your dog was Catholic!”
