Unpleasant video footage of reinstated Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson has emerged in which he appears to advise young men to marry underage girls because they are easier to control.
In the 2009 Sportsmen's Ministry talk, Robertson, 67, who began dating his wife when she was 14-years-old, advises his audience, 'You got to marry these girls when they are 15 or 16. They'll pick your ducks' - which is a literal reference to removing dead bird's feathers.
Warming to his stereotypical redneck theme, Robertson, who was suspended from the A&E hit for nine days earlier this month for homophobic comments, tells the gathered crowd that in addition to being young, the girls have to know how to cook and carry a Bible - 'That'll save you a lot of trouble down the road.'

ROFLOL. When did it become an American value that women must be 18 before they marry? Should they be 18 before they have sex? Is there a magical occurrence between 16 and 18 that makes a female ready? Why not 21?
Why not let individuals and their families deal with such personal matters?
The most solid marriage I know of is a friend who was close to 30 and his wife was 15 or 16 when they married. They just passed their 40th anniversary. They raised the most responsible children of anyone I know too.
I watched this video. He is sharing his testimony. Shame on them for exploiting.

From the 1970s in Bama, I’d say ten percent of the local gals were married by age sixteen, and twenty-five percent were married by the conclusion of high school. It might have changed over the past thirty years.
Based on the laws now....especially in Cal...a fifty-five year old gay guy could marry a fifteen year old gay kid. Course, the parents are involved, and at least one or two judges have to sign up to the process. I’m waiting for some journalists to suddenly wake up and realize what this means.
Can anyone think of famous people who married young and stayed together ‘til death? Lorretta and Mooney Lynn comes to mind.

I myself am married to someone over two decades younger, but she was not a teenager...
The negative thing about marrying someone who hasn’t lived any of life is that they would at some point want to find out what they missed and moved on, so the 16 deal isn’t often IMO a lasting deal.
Having women becoming mothers at a younger ages makes biological sense. A woman has all of her female eggs at birth. These eggs are subject to continuous damage to their DNA from environmental forces such as cosmic rays. The younger a woman gives birth, the less likely her offspring will have DNA damage that will cause birth defects. In earlier times, women were given to men at young ages in arranged marriages by the parents. This reduced the risk of children with birth defects.
Now women are having children at later ages and the incidence of Downs syndrome, the most common genetic defect has risen. woman’s risk of having a baby with Down syndrome is:
At age 25, 1 in 1,250
At age 30, 1 in 1,000
At age 35, 1 in 400
At age 40, 1 in 100
At age 45, 1 in 30
At age 49, 1 in 10
The cause of the rise of maternal age in women has been the entry of women into the job market. This has required women to postpone childbearing for the necessary education to become competitive in the job market. All has come at a cost.

I would go so far as to suggest that when evaluating the idea in modern days are marrying at that age against the culture and maturity levels say 50-75 years ago. There would be a time when a “boy or girl” of that age would be an embarrassment to still be living at home.
Now we have “kids” still living at home in the parents basement until their 40 yr. old adults!
What changed? Why did it change?
What caused such a shift in cultural moors that we now have 40 yr. old basement kids?
It is somewhat amusing to read how we do not expect a 16 year old girl or young man to be able to “play house.”
Seriously, they’re the ones that try to reject all standards.
On what basis do they judge it as “wrong” to marry a 14-16 yr old (as long as you’re not a lot older)?
What standard can they point to?
