This leftist hated Rush Limbaugh, his better in every way. Good riddance to so-called “Uncle” Lar.

I don’t listen to Rush.

Are you going to hate me, too?

I don’t listen to Rush.

That's fine. Listening to Rush Limbaugh is not a litmus test for Conservatism. But having seething hatred for the man who has advanced the Constitutional Principles of the Founding Fathers makes one a despicable, evil leftist in the vein of Ted Kennedy.

Rush Limbaugh patterned his delivery after Lujack—used sarcasm, etc. How did Larry feel? He hated, hated, HATED Rush...

Here is the thread Larry Lujack 1940-2013 from which that quote was taken.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think there's a big, big difference between those ‘traditional’ democrats that grew up decades ago, and who had a father, uncle, or other relative working at Ford, GM, etc., and who supported the democrats because they thought they were for the hard-working ‘little guy’, and the democrats of 2013 - who include the smarmy pseudo-intellectual limousine liberal hypocrites who drink bottled water and expensive wine, and who extol the virtues of Karl Marx as they lounge in luxury. I think Lujack would fit into the former.

Another example of this, again from Chicago, is the late Mike Royko. He was a Chicago democrat, by heritage and demeanor, but in actuality was quite conservative. He wrote a GREAT column about socialized medicine that I think is very relevant today. Here's a link:

You'll get no argument from me on a mere party label. Some of the worst politicians happened to be Republican such as Fighting Bob La Follette, a far left senator from Wisconsin. Likewise New York Mayor John Lindsay has an 'R' next to his name but was not a Conservative by any stretch.

On the other hand, some of the old-line Southern Democrats genuinely loved God, the military and the Constitution. One who springs to mind is Congressman Martin Dies of the second district here in Texas. Sure, he had a 'D' next to his name but he, as much as anyone, paved the way for the anti-commie crusade of Senator Joe McCarthy. It was Democrat Dies who spearheaded the committee, named after him, that became the House Committee Investigating Un-American Activities. He was a fierce anti-communist and also opposed the programs of FDR in spite of sharing the party label.

Another good one of more recent times was Senator John C. Stennis (D-MS). During the Watergate era, a bunch of trumped up nonsense ginned up by the WaPO's Ben Bradlee, JFK's old drinking buddy, it was that Mississippi Democrat who remained allies with Nixon after several Republicans threw him under the bus.

Used to listen to “Animal Stories” with Lar and “Little Snot-nosed Tommy” at 5:45 AM on WLS, when getting up to get ready to go to school, in the early ‘80s. Loved that stuff. RIP, Uncle LAR.

Animal stories was repeated at about 8:45 each morning.
When I was traveling Illinois, I would schedule my first sales call in the morning so I'd be back in the car to catch Uncle Lar and Tommy.

I don't think Rush mimicked Lujack at all—at least I couldn't hear it if he did. Rush picked up some of William Buckley's vocal mannerisms, especial when referring to the REVERAND Jackkkkson...

Just was mentioning that Rush admitted to borrowing style, presentation, sarcasm from Lujack (who hated Rush’s guts).
You don’t have to be a fan of Rush, but for those, just a bit of trivia. (Rush mentioned the hatred Lujack had for him...)

Talk host Jeff Katz (currently at WRVA Richmond VA) told me on FB that Rush was kinda channeling Lujack even back in his
“Jeff Christie” days in Pittsburgh

Lujack's opinion of Rush Limbaugh:

I heard him do one of the cruelest things on the radio once: he was praising how attractive the Bush twins were, while ripping the looks of Amy Carter and Chelsea Clinton. I thought that was just unbelievable. They were kids! And I said I was appalled by that, and it got back to Rush.

Yeah, remember the intro? Lujack would say the time (in my case, 5:45), and a wolf howl would play, and he’d say, “Time for Animal Stories!”
