The Affordable Care Act has dramatically increased the cost of buying a health insurance plan on the individual market in California, Texas, Florida, New York, Illinois, Georgia, and North Carolina, states that account for more than half of Americas uninsured adults, according to a study by Sector & Sovereign, a sell-side firm that focuses on advising investors what sectors to put their money in.
Worse, the firm argued in a note earlier this week, the increases in cost are most substantial for the young.
According to S&S, the average deductible the amount of money you spend out of pocket before your health insurance kicks in for plans purchased by a 21-year old man in 2013 was $3,649, bought at an average monthly premium of $144. To purchase a plan with the same deductible now, a 21-year-old would have to pay $261, an 81% increase.

No one can argue that this money must come from somewhere and the truth is that this cost must come from discretionary spending since the health care is a legal requirement! So not only are the young supporting the older health consumer, they are sacrificing their financial future in doing this! Thus more people end up as dependent upon the government and pawns of the benevolent government party? Permanent Democrats?
That’s the re-distribution part....another word is “stealing”.
They will pay MORE ... for less.
ObamaCare is NOT affordable or necessary; it totally sucks. more proof to the gullible Americans that nothing is as expensive as something supposedly provided “free” by government.
Hey, EXCREMENT EVENTUATES! That’s my copyrighted phrase (but feel free to use it as I HATE PATRIOTS FOR PROFIT).
Of course this does not take into account 26ers, subsidy recipients, and medicaid.
Which is where most of the youts will fall into.
Yes it is higher for the young people but it is super high for older folks. I have the premium chart for Los Angeles and Orange Counties. The chart starts with ages 0-20 and they are about $100 a month, going up over $1000 a month for ppl who are 62. It is crazy, it is different by which county you live in. Los Angeles county is divided into to sections and two price points! This chart shows the full prices without subsidies, so it shows the real prices for the policies. But the prices are higher for everyone. My son is 29 and the cheapest policy he could get, individual policy, no subsidy is $163 a month with $6350 annual deductible. Mine, at age 62, would be over a thousand a month. The premiums go up for every year you are older.
My son is unemployed and 29 years old and I have been paying for his health insurance. He qualifies for FREE Medicaid - called Medical in California where he lives... but most doctors and hospitals do not accept that. So I have been paying $83 a month/ $4500 deduc for his health insurance form eHealth.net He got his cancellation letter saying that policy was no longer offered due to ACA - ObamaCare and he could choose a new one. I sent in the papers for that but didn’t hear from them yet. When he is here for Christmas we will call eHealth.net to make sure he is covered. It is catastrophic only and you have to be under 30 years old to get that. So I don’t know what happens in May when he turns 30. Hope he has a job that offers insurance by then....
Oh yesm more for less... 29 year old SINGLE MAN, my son. The reason he has to get a new policy it MUST offer IUDS, birth control pills, maternity care, pediatric vision and dental, mammograms - he cannot use any of that crap, it is just for him, an individual policy for a single man! but they jacked up the price from $84 to $163
It has nothing to do with “care”. It should be referred to as “obama-insurance”.
Actually, it’s all about CONTROL of your life from womb to tomb.
