Sad news today. My best dog Daisy passed this afternoon. She will be missed.
We got her as a rescue. Someone had thrown here out of a car, she had mange, needed stitches and lots of TLC when we found her some 8 years ago. We adopted her and gave her a good home. She went out this morning and chased that pesky squirrel on the fence. After lunch, we found her by the fire place in her "puppy dreams" sleeping pose.
I’m so very sorry. I’m glad you have the memories, but especially the security of the knowledge that you gave her as much as she gave you, many fun-filled days including the last one of her all-too-short life.
Hugs,
def
Earlier this year I had to say goodbye to my faithful companion of 12 years. Her name was Sam and she was always by my side or in my truck riding with me.
Ten days ago on December 4th GOD smiled on us. I went to inspect a recently vacated rental property and found this very special guy abandoned there, hungry and cold hiding under the porch.
He is warm and happy now. He's had a couple of baths, a couple of shots and he doesn't know it but he hit the lottery and so did I.
His name is now Samagan. It means the way it sounds.
Our 15 year old is failing fast. I wish he could go out sleeping by the fire too.
I am sorry to hear of your loss today.
I can’t help but think that she laid down, rested, started to dream and then was transported to a beautiful place.
A true gift to leave this planet that way.
Remember the good times. Screen is blurry over here too.
I am not really sad about my dads death yesterday, I am more like “damn, that sucks, I am going to miss not having dad to talk to”.
I am also kind of happy, because he had a lot of bad habits and lived well into his nineties, full mobility, no senility, which seems that this would reflect favorably upon my future prospects. I was rooting for his continued survival.
I don’t know if that is twisted or not.
As a well-spent day brings happy sleep, so a life well spent brings happy death.
Leonardo da Vinci
Thanks for giving me a sounding board on this as I have nobody else to talk to.
Sorry for your loss. I love dogs and know how hard it is when we lose them.
I am so sorry
If they could all go that easily it would be heaven. Had to put one of my Dandies down 2 weeks ago after watching him suffer thru the last days. Truly like losing a family member.
sorry for your loss. I lost my big Doberman pal last month and miss him terribly.
The wound we thought would never heal begins to cover over as another boroughs it's way into our hearts.
I'm sorry for your loss, I know this doesn't help, but we've all been there.
I think it’s ok not to be sad after someone you love has had a long and happy life. We all must go at some point. I know you will miss him and think of him everyday.
Alright, now you finished me off.
My dad died yesterday. I dont feel sad, because he had a good long life and everybody loved him. Is that normal (the not being sad part)?
We all grieve in our own way. It took a few months to hit me after my mom died back in 2012. Her birthday had been Dec. 21st. That year it was tough at Christmas time.
My condolences to you and your family.
Hard for me to read this, too. I still miss our rescue Dobie, Ricky that I lost 9 years ago. May God comfort you.
(((hugs)))
So sorry for you loss.
When I read posts that warm the heart and tell a lovely story, I tear up. It’s so good to know that one more animal had a loving home. I’m so sorry your Daisy was needed in Heaven. Have a feeling she’ll be chasing lots of squirrels outside the pearly gates.
Sending cyber hugs that can only come from a fellow pet owner.
Sounds like your life has been mad very rich from your animals. Sorry to hear of your own losses; the pain is all too real. But there is solace knowing you’ll see ‘em again.
The person that said you can’t buy love never got himself a dog.
