Sad news today. My best dog Daisy passed this afternoon. She will be missed.
We got her as a rescue. Someone had thrown here out of a car, she had mange, needed stitches and lots of TLC when we found her some 8 years ago. We adopted her and gave her a good home. She went out this morning and chased that pesky squirrel on the fence. After lunch, we found her by the fire place in her "puppy dreams" sleeping pose.
I wish you comfort in your period of grief. You did your best. I never cried as much as when I delivered Buddy, my black cat to the vets for putting down. He was extremely ill, I did not have the available funds to keep going. If I had not needed to drive away from the Humane Society afterward, I could have used a strong drink right then. I waited till I was home and had a Tequila Sunrise in safety of my living room.
My dad died yesterday.
I don’t feel sad, because he had a good long life and everybody loved him.
Is that normal (the not being sad part)?
we have had 4 rescue dogs and our first dog was from a friend. we had to make the decision on all 5, the latest earlier this year, but it was the right decision. only 1 died at home in my arms and that was the morning we were going to take him in.
so sorry for the lose of a friend.
I am so very sorry for your loss. Animal or not, they become our friends, and it’s painful to lose a friend.
21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.
You were blessed for years with His gift.
Prayers up in your grief, I understand what it is like to lose a friend like that.
Sometimes. Be open to the good grief that may yet come.
God bless.
I am truly sorry for your loss. We lost our own little friend last February, and we’ll miss him, always.
A very sad day when you lose your old dog. Knowing she died peacefully should give you some comfort.
I’m still missing my Ruby who died in April. Thanksgiving Day was a sad reminder for me. I always cooked up the carcass in a big pot till every piece of meat fell off, took out all the bones and would add rice or macaroni and veggies. She ate like a queen for days and loved it.
I’m busy taking care of a bunch of feral kittens now but I do miss my girl. I hope that you find a new friend to fill that hole in your heart.
Sometimes.
Sorry. Know how you feel.
I think about my dogs, past and present, and marvel at the existance of amimals, their behnavior and capacity to form close and loving relationships with us. I am sure there are scientific explanations for all of this; but the reality of animals and their time with us is proof to me that this world is not all there is
So sorry to hear of your loss. Our pets are like family and are missed just as much when they are gone. Their memory is etched in our hearts forever no matter how many years go by.
On dear, I am so sorry. I don’t know which is worse, your beloved pet dies suddenly when you least expect it or you have to put a sick pet down. Both are terrible and you have my condolences.
I’m so sorry. We lost ours in June after 14 years. God gives us these little critters for comfort and companionship. When they leave us, it hurts like crazy. Crying along with you.
Heaven’s Gate
I got to the gate of heaven yesterday after we said goodbye.
I began to miss you terribly, because I heard you cry.
Suddenly there was an angel and she asked me to enter heaven’s gate.
I asked her if I could stay outside for someone who’d be late.
I wouldn’t make much noise you see, I wouldn’t bark or howl,
I’ll only wait here patiently and play with my tennis ball.
The angel said I could stay right here and wait for you to come,
Because heaven just wouldn’t be heaven if I went in alone.
So I’ll wait here, you take your time, but keep me in your heart.
Because heaven just wouldn’t be heaven without you to warm my heart.
