As I heard Pauls story, it became obvious to me that while we often have a laser focus on preparing to survive the impending collapse, his community had gone farther and made preparations for survival after the collapse. In other words: yes, he had to have practical necessities and skills to make it through whatever came his way but what then? After the world as he knew it ended, was his community prepared to help create a new one?

Interesting question: were they "stronger" because they were less apt to undermine or interfere with their husband's leadership and decisions with which they did not agree?
“While I agree modern women would take up arms to defend themselves and their own, I seriously doubt they would take up arms for much else, let alone an abstract concept such as freedom.”
Sorry you don’t know any smart women - perhaps you like to stay away from them if you perceive they might be smart.
Talk to women on this board about taking away their freedom as though they don’t understand “an abstract concept such as freedom”, and you wouldn’t last a minute if you did that for real in person to any one of them.
ping to 62. Mistake getting your name on there.
What's that old Reagan quote about knowing so much that isn't true, lol?
By your slippery definition, Mexicans are Americans, Canadians are Americans, heck let's just throw in Central and South America, too! They're Americans according to your slippery definition.
****************************************************
You just can't quit, can you? And here I thought you and I had decided to call a amiable truce. LOL Yet there you go again, referencing Reagan to besmirch my abilities.
Now as to the “slippery” definition of Americans. That's the dictionary definition - read one if you can. It's an accurate use of the word American, and that's a fact.
Like I said, I'll quit if you quit. If someone happens to mention me, feel free to ignore that part of their post, or at least don't post some disparaging remark in response that could be interpreted that way. Good Night.
Oh well, c’est la vie say the old folk. Get some sleep.
That’s a possibility but I was referring to their mental state of mind and their lifestyle. Being able to handle whatever task came up because they were basically frontier women. In days of old the rules were : Either you fought and won or you died on the trail and became food for the carnivores.
Right back at you.LOL
I was at a pro 2nd amendment protest in a small park adjacent to the UN building in NYC. The gun grabbers had people there with video equipment who were obviously videotaping us. Creepy dudes.
One of them followed me most of the way back to my apartment. Even creepier.
Didn’t stop my freeping.
That is creepy. I wouldn’t walk too far by myself in NYC. Daylight or night time.
I once shared a cab with a lady from NYC on my way to a board meeting, and she advised me to either take a cab, or stay in a group. So I did.
Ladies, please forget those naysayer clowns and focus on the important issues like how to dispose of all the bodies lol!
You see, as you and I know, liberty gives us the right to have these weapons. Liberty is not a concept, it's right there in the weapons we have - you can see liberty. It's right there as you protested. And, we can see liberty in danger with dictator Muslim Hussein trying to rip it from us every single day.
Blessings on you, Agnes and thanks for that link to the plant containers as that is where I found what I needed at a good price. My plants will thank you in spring.
That’s easy, pile them all at the entryway and let the Zombies from the city take care of them.
For such a smart woman, you have a disappointingly limited repertoire.
Intimidated by women, say it to my face, blah blah blah.
That you equate a protest with a firefight only shows an understanding of neither. Protests only limit aggression to the extent the aggressor cares about the opinion of the protestor.
Hardly a consideration in a firefight, or an authoritarian takeover.
Tell me...how many governments throughout history have fallen due to the determined whingeing of women: aside from our own?
Oh I understand that, and agree. I merely wished to draw attention to the fact that modern women have become so used to getting what they want through organized nagging they have forgotten that it only works on their "friends," and means less than nothing to a true enemy.
The toughness exhibited by pioneer women was a function of them doing their part, not insisting on having their way.
Tell me...how many governments throughout history have fallen due to the determined whingeing of women: aside from our own?
*****************************************************
Gee, let me think about that. It seems as though you are saying that our government has fallen due to the whinegeing of women, and it’s the only one.
Does that mean that you think all of the other governments that failed were failures of men who ignored their women’s whinegeing? Or did you think it was just male incompetence?LOL
That is precisely the kind of "indirect aggression" that shows all the prattle about fragile male egos is little more than projection.
Vanity, thy name is woman...with apologies to the Bard.
Please do.
It is beyond dispute that the instant introduction of a numerically superior voting block with the passage of women's suffrage fundamentally changed the political dynamic of this country.
That would not have been a bad thing if at the same time the Constitution had been altered to restrain the "indirect aggression" of women as effectively as it restrains the "direct" aggression of men by the men who originally wrote it.
As things currently stand, nearly all of the undermining of our liberties have come about by the skillful application by unprincipled men of such indirect strategies employed by women throughout the ages.
What? No answer to my questions regarding all those failing governments? Were they too difficult for you or too direct?
I note that they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. I wonder how close we are to that point again?
