This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked. NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.

I was wondering about the Rotels; there must be a flavor there that is more than just heat. I haven’t used them in so long, I don’t remember.
Though I have some jalapenos, I am gunna use some of my ghost peppers. They are all ripening since the temp change. I have a dozen or so ready to use right now, but I will only use one in this sauce. I think that will suffice.
While looking for something else, I came across some packaged fresh herbs in a grocery store with roots and dirt still attached. I bought the tarragon, and planted it as soon as I got home. Does anyone have any experience successfully growing plants from such a source? If it works, it is a lot cheaper than buying the plants from a nursery.
In the Walmart Produce Section, I bought some little pots of fresh herbs..basil, dill, and sage. Dummy me, I stuck them, pots and all in my little greenhouse, which got in the high eighties today with tons of sun. Having been in the nice cool produce section, not in scorching sunlight, the only one that looks happy is the sage.
I did see they are grown in Wilcox Arizona, but forget the name. There are always different ones, thai basil, chives, oregano, the ones I bought...
We had beautiful day here in Missouri yesterday. It was a balmy 60 degrees. Tonight we’ll be at 7 degrees. A big winter storm is predicted, and it is already sleeting.
Daughter will have to drive home in this - 75 miles. I hate this weather.
Ugh! Prayers up for the safety of you and yours.
Thanks! I made something similar yesterday before I saw this, but used a can of El Pato Salsa Verde instead of Rotel. (That’s what I’m having for breakfast today with chips. Gotta have my veggies.)
Thanks.
We have 48 right now heading down to 41 tonight, but it is cloudy and very windy. Ouuch!
rightly, I think that 53 degrees is due to the brick walls surrounding the garden on three sides and a solid wood fence across the back. Let me know what temp you have now so I can compare my temp with yours. I think I will be higher.
Brought in the Lantana which has grow fairly large since I bought it a few months ago and it has flowers blooming, and put it on coffee table to be my Christmas tree.
Oh, I just noticed your 48 was a short time ago at 12:44 if the time is right on this forum. I have 53. That means I am 5 degrees warmer than you are.
rightly, I think maybe you are in Conroe stocking up what you need for the bad weather/cold rain that is about to hit here. I did that yesterday afternoon thinking the rain might start early Thursday and I’d be out in it.
It’s now close to 2:30 pm and the temp has dropped three degrees, is 50 now.
I was with my wife at the dr getting her check up on her knee and catching a lunch.
I think Texokie might have been the one that was experimenting with various stuff from the store. It should work for the tarragon. That’s supposed to be cold tolerant to zone 5, but it doesn’t do very well outside here. I usually have to bring it in the house for winter.
I am making a big batch of herbal spiced tea. It’s drafty here at the computer.
“I was with my wife at the dr getting her check up on her knee and catching a lunch.”
Okay, that is permitted. :o)
It is 6 pm and the temp. is 44.7. If you can tell what yours is without going outside, what is it? I really want to know if my garden space temp. is going to be higher than yours. That way I will know to add “x” degrees to the official number for this area.
At 6:45 I have 43 and the official temp at the Conroe airport weather center 3 1/2 miles from me is is 44. No rain here yet, but a very light mist a couple of times.
oh yea, we did the physical therapy too when we were out.
I will be back in town on Wed next week. Gunna hit the pawn shop for a camera and woodtools. Make a down payment on my wifes B-day gift, too.
KIds and grands coming for Christmas, so gotta be ready for whatever they want to do. Shopping will be on the agenda, for sure. They discovered the Woodlands Mall last year, and I’m sure they will want to go again. Daughter wants a wedding ring, after all these years of having a simple band, she wants a REAL ring, and she wants a new phone, plus a trip to Texas. She wants it all, right now, baby! I suspect the phone will wait.
Fortunately I have a bud that is a jeweler in Conroe and will deal. But I cant help on the phone.
Tarragon is one of my favorites for veggie soups.
