The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office are investigating an incident out of Ranger, WV involving a man attacking a relative and then shooting himself.
Police say it happened around 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23 at a house in the area of 1002 Barberry Road, just off Route 37.
According to Lincoln Sheriff's, a male subject, Jeff Turley, 32, attacked his brother, also a male, with a samurai sword, almost severing his left arm, causing several lacerations to his chest and neck.
When emergency responders were trying to load Turley's brother to take him out of the house, Turley grabbed a shotgun and started shooting throughout the house, which contained adults and children.
No one else was hurt, however, Turley fled the house and went into the woods, located behind the house.
When police arrived on the scene, they found Turley in the woods, roughly 500 feet from the house, unconscious with a self-inflicted gun shot wound to the left side of his chest.
Both Turley and his brother were both taken to Logan Regional Medical Center, but according to police, due to the severity of Turley's injury, he was taken to CAMC General Hospital for surgery.
Police say both Turley and his brother are in stable condition, however, Turley is currently being held in ICU at CAMC General on observation.

Couldn’t hack it so he blew it?
I guess
One of you have the sword ping?
Lol!
a male subject, Jeff Turley, 32, attacked his brother, also a male.
It is good to know his brother is male.
Must have been a fan of the Sabre Dance.
In this day and age one never knows.
Plus the fact his brother was wielding a sword, so it’s good to know the victim is still male.
At first I thought the name was “Turkey” and that this was not a true story!
Yeah, the first thing that jumped out at me. I’m no journalism major but gee, who writes and proofreads this stuff?
Why didn’t he just fall on his sword?
This:
“attacked his brother, also a male,”
is what I copied before I read your post. Sputter. Blew Gator Ade all over myself.
Happy Thanksgiving, y’all.
That's just the sort of detail-oriented reporting we've come to miss in today's fast-paced media environment.
Well it is West Virginia. The author also said the Sheriff’s Office (are) investigating. That should be (is).
Spell check is assumed by young public school educated people to be a proofreading tool.
These days, you never know.
“The author also said the Sheriffs Office (are) investigating. That should be (is).”
It’s Lincoln County. Sheriff Roscoe P Coltrane and Deputy Enos Strate are on the job.
That was not a Hattori Hanzo sword!
