Harkin: Government Forcing Us to Pay for Products We Don’t Need Is America’s New ‘Values System’

Obamacare forces young men and old people to pay for maternity coverage in their health insurance. It’s a ludicrous requirement that makes everyone’s health insurance cost more. But to rich, old leftist Sen. Tom Harkin, that’s not a bug in Obamacare. It’s a feature, because it imposes his values on everyone else.

Harkin began his sermon: “I must say that there was a story the other day in the paper about somebody who said, ‘well gee, now I’ve got — I have to take this policy that covers maternity care. My wife and I aren’t having any more children.’ I don’t know, they were older or something like that. ‘Why should I have to have a policy that covers maternity care?’ I got to thinking about that. I thought well, you know what? Maybe because my wife and I don’t have any more children, and they’re grown up, maybe I should not have to pay property taxes to pay for my local schools, huh? Not my kids there anymore, why should I worry about it? Maybe only the people who have kids going to the public school ought to pay for it.”

Harkin concludes with a leftist’s version of the altar call: “That is the new value system. And we’re not turning back. Fix the problems, move ahead, but let’s aggressively get people enrolled in this system, and have a new value system of health care in America".

You health insurance is private and s/b based on your own lifestyle, just like car and house insurance. But not to the communists! Next up: it doesn't matter how many DUIs you have, everyone will pay the same for auto insurance!

It's not stopping until it's physically stopped. Talking only goes so far, until there is a time not to talk.

That time is rapidly approaching...

What problem are they fixing by forcing people over 60 to carry maternity coverage?
Can Harkin answer that for me? Who says this new “values system” is really an improvement? Isn’t this forcing their morals on me?

Well, don’t forget Chief Justice Roberts practicing doublespeak.

It is not forcing Americans to buy products we don’t want/need, as long as it is labeled as a tax, everything’s peachy.

Capiche?

When I worked with the union the would answer your question with “We are all in this together”.

P.S. to my previous reply: I would tell the communist union leaders that I was raised in a country that promoted individualism and self responsibility and where when I grew up I could be whatever I worked to be.
Unions don’t like that way of thinking and neither do progressive politicians.

This crusty old SOB won’t be touched by “the new values system” of ObeyMeCare. Nor likely will his children or grandchildren.

He’s nothing but a POS anti-American commie, just like everyone else who still associates with the Democrat party.

I agree completely. I have no children so why should I pay for schools through property taxes? Government schools are child abuse anyway.

Yeah, I heard his socialist comments on the radio. I wish someone would have responded: So, Senator Harkin it sounds like you are saying: from each according to his means to each according his need? Is that what you’re saying, Senator Harkin?

I don’t doubt that. In fact. just a little while ago we got a robocall from the Communications Workers of America inviting us to participate in a telephone town hall over whatever it is AT&T wants to do with some employees retirement. I thoroughly resent their attempt to drag consumers into a union dispute. I detest the unions precisely for their tactics and I always will.

I used to feel that way even when I did have children in school. I lived in a decent neighborhood even though it was a tight budget, because I wanted my children to grow up in a decent neighborhood. I got upset when my kids were mandatorily bussed to low income neighborhood schools where they were harassed and abused because of integration rules.
So I paid higher property taxes for nothing.

I’m not a fan of any taxation but it would be fairer if schools were funded by a state sales tax. Then it would truly be everyone sharing the burden not just property owners.

It never dawns on these leftist asshats that the US public school system they always compare obamacare to is ranked about 80th in the world and produces a hideous substandard product with gobs of money wasted.
