Tom Hanks is a talented actor (that's someone who can memorize at least one paragraph of dialog written by another).
Unfortunately, he is also another Hollywood Obama worshiper, albeit a relatively quiet one, who, along with Spielberg and several others, grasp the financial rewards for positive portrayals of the United States military. Projects such as "Saving Private Ryan", "Band of Brothers" and now this new one.
How sadly hypocritical that these Hollywood types continue to support politicians out here in the real world like the Clintons, Obama, most of the radical left crew from the Left Coast (Algore, Pelosi, Waxman, Boxer, Feinstein, George Miller, etc.) who, at their cores, disdain those same military men and women upon whose backs and lives these creatures profit.
It's just me but I've decided to consciously AVOID the films and other projects put forth by these folks.
Seems I read somewhere that the guy Hanks is playing said the Stockholm syndrome thing was all BS. Typical Hollywood.
Capt Phillips has all the makings of a great film.
If I had to shun anything that a liberal had contact with I may as well curl up and die.
I broke my vow to boycott Lib starring movies...and went to GRAVITY with Sandra Bull-lib and George Hussein Clooney.
Felt guilty ever since. Won’t make that mistake again.
And no, the movie was not all it claimed to be. Anyone can make a “good” movie with enough special effects.
All of my purchases are political decisions. I boycott almost all Hollywood products because so few are politically clean. I will boycott GM forever because of the corruption of their bankruptcy. I am boycotting the TARP banks because that bailout was immoral. Guns and ammo? I’m a big fan (it’s a shame I’m such a lousy boater). Tom Hanks? Blacklisted forever, too.
I have steadfastly been boycotting hollywood for years....their sewage infested garbage propaganda can go to hell.

I haven't been to the movies in ages. I'd rather watch an old movie, one that reflects my values and is actually good. Most movies today use vulgarity and violence as a substitute for a good screenplay, an actual plot and good acting. I have TCM and Retroplex on cable, or I can view a DVD from my personal library. I'd rather see an old movie 30 times than waste time and money on today's garbage.
I did not see any movies today but I did buy 2 Vortex Strikefire red dot scopes and 2 Guntec Beryl scope rails.
Just doing my bit, to stimulate the conservative economy.
Hollyweird is the number one reason why there are so many low to no information voters in this country.
Quiet? Hanks narrated the Riefenstahl-style ‘The Road We’ve Traveled’ propaganda film for Obama’s campaign.
Sigh. Me too. Disappointing.
There is another reason to not watch the movie it’s more fiction than fact.
The crew members on the ship have come out and said the movie is pure BS...that the captain’s portrayal was totally inaccurate. Thus, I wont’ be seeing it....not due to liberal bias, but due to truth bias.
Yea, it probably is. Myself, I don't live, eat or sleep politics nor do I allow the political views of others to influence how I run my life.
Entertainment is what it is and to insert politics into the equation is like denying yourself sugar in your coffee simply because it may have been processed in Cuba........
You're sounding like one of those intolerant liberals we're always railing against around here.........LOL!
“From the Earth to the Moon” was a good series.
I will never watch a movie starring Tom Hanks. It is not just his leftism that bothers me. It’s his anti-Christian bigotry that bothers me the most.
I am with you.
I had not heard that.
Thanks for the info.
I still think it is a great premise for a film.
Gravity is all about “green screens”, actors acting in front of nothing. I dont get the attraction.
