One of my favorite actresses. I wish her well. Aging is not for the faint of heart.

Reclusive: This picture of Doris Day, taken in July 2008, is the last time she was photographed in public

For real? I did not know she was still alive, she did not age well. (at least not like Sophia Loren) Good of her to save the creatures and reclusive is her own business.

I remember her afternoon variety show, back when she and Burt Reynolds were an item.

IIRC, after her third husband (and manager) died, she asked his son, who was a major record executive to help her with her finances. The son quickly discovered his dad had stolen and gambled away just about everything she had.

He’d also signed her to a do a TV show she didn’t want to do but because she had a contract and needed the money, she was forced to do it.

Good God...another worthless showbiz denizen. Is it true that *every* star of showbiz (film,TV.music) over the last 50+ years has been an absolute filthbag?

It’s been some years since Day, now 91 and so reclusive many may be surprised to learn she is still alive, used to steal through the streets of the nearby town of Carmel in the middle of the night on a regular basis.

You know, she might be a zombie.

I'm just throwing that out there.

She was deadly hot back in the day.

Doris Day type chicks are appealing as all hell.

If this was anyone but a “celeb,” she’d be considered a wackadoo “cat lady,” and the county health department would raid her house, find it knee-deep in feces and felines, and ship her off to a laughing academy.

If she loves animals and treats them well then she’s just fine.

Sounds more like some journalist is miffed for not getting an interview so he’s got to run her down. She’s had a belly full of that, it’s no wonder that she prefers animals they are more trustworthy.

I loved her, but tell me why many attractive, pleasant women (like my ex-wife) go nuts over abusive men . lounge lizards, and home-wreckers? I’ve never been able to find it out.

Why are people so ‘concerned’? She sounds like a very compassionate old lady, of whom St. Francis of Assisi would most certainly approve. Her men acted a lot worse than dogs, so who can blame her?

The article sure doesn’t support the title, so she retired, whats the big deal, she still answers fan letters and has friends and a life and a hobby.

She stood by Rock Hudson as his life wasted away from AIDS. Rock’s proclivities notwithstanding, Doris Day was a loyal friend to him.

Between that and her dedication to rescuing animals, sounds like she’s a good egg. God bless her.

A onetime Big Band singer, best known in that endeavor for “Sentimental Journey”. Born Doris Mary Ann Kappelhoff in Cincinnati, Ohio. (My mother used to have a dance lesson right after her and would pass her on the stairs.)

I loved DD in te movies - especially with James Garner in The Thrill of it All and Move over Darling; also liked her in Calamity Jane with Howard Keel, and in the Glass Bottom Boat with Rod Taylor. She did good suspense films too like The Man who Knew Too Much.

She was in one suspense film where she was being threatened, and the culprit turned out to be her husband - but I cannot remember the name of it.
