Why are people so ‘concerned’? She sounds like a very compassionate old lady, of whom St. Francis of Assisi would most certainly approve. Her men acted a lot worse than dogs, so who can blame her?

Most 91 year olds become reclusive. They lose their friends. Their health is poor. Not all...but most.
She did lots of good for animals. According to the article she was thrifty, even though she had some really bad treatment from one of her husbands. Or because of it.
