EUGENE -- No. 2 Oregon's long-awaited breast cancer awareness-inspired uniforms made their debut Saturday evening before the Ducks played Washington State at Autzen Stadium.
Oregon announced it would wear pink helmets, gloves and cleats earlier this week. Five helmets will be auctioned off bearing autographs of Ahmad Rashad, Mark Helfrich, Phil Knight, Joey Harrington and Dan Fouts.

Perhaps the football teams could save all the money wasted on all the vapid pink stuff and use it instead for direct donation to the cause.
When is this disrespect to ducks going to end!?
So obvious.....
This is FreeRepublic.com. We are all grown ups, correct? It should not be construed in any manner that I somehow support cancer happening. It simply means that the pink apparel has performed its intended purpose. Let's move on.
I don’t follow college football—but reading about this pink thing is ridiculous, as far as I’m concerned.
My other question is what sort of football players want to be called ducks?
What is the color and month dedicated to prostate cancer? ( Just wondering.)
I am sure the WNBA has jerseys for that. And women’s NCAA basketball. Sarcasm off. Remember, it is sexist to think of men, progressive to think of women.
Go Ducks
Agree.
An article a few weeks ago indicated that the ‘pink’ in the NFL wasn’t bringing in much additional donations.
The NFL did quit using the pink penalty flags because they got mixed up with some of the pink towels some of the players used.
The HS had dedicated an entire squad of cheerleaders to dressing down with pink ribbons an some unique pink-trimmed uniforms.
The pink stuff is played out.
I couldn't agree more. I'm tired of being badgered at the checkout for 'rounding-up' my purchase to the next dollar to donate.
Also: Sorry, ladies. I'm male and I don't appreciate all the uneven attention to gender-specific disease research (yes, I know men get breast cancer, too...but you can't make the same claim to fame about the prostate).
This 'pink' thing seems all too convenient for special interests.
I've got an idea...how about converting 'pink' to ALL cancer research? How 'bout that?
As an aside, anyone throw down $$ on when the Ducks debut with Rainbow helmets?
I watched the USC-Notre Dame fiasco on TV yesterday. It seems that the players on both sides were trying to minimize the apparently obligatory wearing of pink.
It’s not enough that they have the ugliest uniforms in creation — but adding pink to green & yellow isn’t an improvement.
Just what is with women’s interest groups femmin’-up sports? Sexist pigs. They can take their “pink” and cram it.
He, himself, was wearing a ribbon made from a folded dollar bill stating that it stood for Debt Reduction.
A town north of me has pink garbage containers with ribbons printed on the side.
