COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Nick Marshall accounted for four scores and No. 24 Auburn battered Johnny Manziel in a 45-41 win over No. 7 Texas A&M on Saturday.
Tre Mason's 5-yard score with less than 2 minutes to play was first placed at the 1, but it was reviewed and ruled a touchdown.
A&M (5-2, 2-2 SEC) had a last chance, but Manziel, the Heisman Trophy winner, was sacked by Dee Ford on fourth down to secure the win.
Manziel threw for 454 yards and four touchdowns and ran for a fifth score, but was intercepted twice. He missed a series in the fourth quarter with an apparent injury to his right arm or shoulder. He returned but was constantly moving his right arm.
Marshall threw for 236 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 100 yards and two more scores for Auburn (6-1, 3-1), which lost 63-21 to the Aggies last season.
Texas A&M's Mike Evans had a school-record 287 yards receiving with four touchdowns to become the first player in school history to have two, 200-yard receiving games in a career. He scored on receptions of 26, 64, 42 and 33 yards.
Auburn entered the game leading the SEC with 287 yards rushing a game and piled up 379 yards rushing against the Aggies. Mason led the way with 178 yards and Corey Grant added 45.
Manziel connected with Evans for his fourth TD on a 33-yard pass -- that Auburn was called for pass interference on -- giving A&M a 31-24 lead late in the third quarter.
Manziel was injured when he was tackled on an 8-yard run early in the fourth quarter.

Interesting comment on a day when - with the exception of Alabama - EVERY favored ranked SEC team LOST!!!
Might as well have a separate SEC National Bowl...
Turnover Saturday!
#3,6,7,8,9,11,15,22 all lost today.
Coach Gus Malzahn is all that!
#3,6,7,8,9,11,15,22 all lost today.

#20 Washingon lost, too.
Might as well have a separate SEC National Bowl...

Dominate?? Hardly.
Starting tomorrow, the SEC will have just ONE top 10 team - #1 Alabama - and 5 teams rounding out the bottom half of the poll. Buh-bye Florida & Georgia.
Don't get me wrong, the SEC remains the leading conference in the country, but the margin between the SEC and the other conferences is not that large.
Wash St just ain’t quittin

Are you still up? Or is it now day time? Anyway......WAR EAGLE!!!! Should be very interesting to see the rankings. I can’t sleep - got too wound up over that game!!!
Yes, I’m up. It is 1:10 Sunday afternoon here. I got up at 0400 in order to be awake enough for the game. Game went from 4:45AM - 8:30. I caught a quick nap after that.
I think I woke my neighbors up with mynscreaming at the end!
I went to LSU, husband to Alabama and daughter goes to Ole Miss son went to SC for a year. We are SEC covered.
FSU should be #2.
Only Oregon has the Offense to keep up with bama
Gotta do what gotta do
It’s over now
WAR EAGLE!!!!
That was one of the most intense Auburn games I have seen in quite some time. Iron Bowl caliber.
Heading to Knoxville in a few weeks to watch them play UT and have tickets for the Iron Bowl this year.
Today proved we are back.
We are back. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season goes.
Shug used to say something to the effect that there is never a sure thing. That on any given Saturday any team has the potential for beating any other team. Something could happen and the unexpected becomes possible.
WAR EAGLE! IT IS GREAT TO BE AN AUBURN TIGER!
Auburn is good. I knew Malzan was going to turn them around. But even he’s doing it faster than I expected. To go into College Station and win is really something. They actually have a shot at beating Alabama. A&M was one play away from beating the Tide just like today. That tells me Alabama and Auburn are pretty even.
A&M’s problem is a total lack of defense. Sumlin’s game plan is score one point more than the other guys. Art Briles does the same thing. Sometimes that doesn’t work. Sometimes they score 71 points.
The SEC sure beat up on each other today. Four teams in the top 12 lost conference games. As you can tell I’m a big SEC fan. I used to live in College Station but didn’t really start pulling for the Aggies until they joined the premier conference. Their first year they made a great run. Now Mizzou is doing it in their second year.
Replay clearly shows he only grabbed jersey. Not a penalty.
. Auburn also had a fake flop on the field to stop a hurry-up play by A&M. BTW, I had no horse in this race. I just enjoyed the game.
If the rule is that pads must be grabbed to be a horse collar, it’s a bad rule. Knees can easily be torn apart by such a tackle, whether or not shoulder pads are gripped. I saw such a play at a HS game last year, and yes, the tackler only got jersey, a penalty WAS called, and star runner’s career was over. Bob
(- Roll Tide -)
Wildest day in the SEC I can remember. Just carnage and blood everywhere.
War Damn Eagle to my Tigers though. Great win in College Station. I thought we might have a chance if we could hold them to <35. I’m surprised we put up 45. Nice win after last years 6 TD debacle...
