Don’t worry about freezing temps, just throw a plastic drop cloth over the plants and you should be fine.

Marcella, I read your description of that project last week, and couldn’t figure out what you were doing then. That is a great idea!
That’s Prissy, my Yorkie, and she lets me know if a squirrel or cat is out there.
She's probably pretty cheap to feed, though, and works well as an alarm system.

Well, it was “original” engineering, and hard to explain except I saw it in my mind and I was determined to beat the freaking squirrels at their game.
Your lettuce looks really good; what kind is that? And are those strawberries on the right?
Her hearing is so acute, she doesn’t miss any sound from a long way off and lets me know if something is approaching whether it’s a person or a car or truck.

The lettuce is Black Seeded Simpson and I like the look of it so I'm going to stick with it as it will grow for me.
In that same container with the lettuce, I have a few Brussels Sprouts and a few Cucumbers. Every plant out there is a “test” plant since I've never grown anything. I have to know what I can grow well in my space.
Now, food plants I didn't grow from seed are the strawberries, the Walking Onions, sweet potato slips, and that one cherry tomato plant. Everything else you see was grown from seed. I had to prove to myself I could grow from seed.
In the two larger planters where a white chair is in front of them (I hung the net over that chair to keep the net off the plants, is Turnips in one and Baby Finger Carrots in the other. The large pink planter has three sorry tomato plants in it because I didn't plant them right. To the right of that large pink planter is a cherry tomato I bought at Lowes. There is one large tomato on it and blossoms. In that picture, you can see the black composter on the left. In another picture or two you can see the small greenhouse on the left beside the composter, to place seeds after I sprout them inside. Being the in the greenhouse should condition them to be outside.
In the net room are tomatoes in the back that are hard to see, sweet potatoes in front on the side, Zinnia flowers, BUSH BEANS and I have three beans, each one on a different plant. That tells me I can grow these beans. Also in there is another “T” squash plant.
Sounds like a good plan.

Yeh, raised in Oklahoma, moved around the south quite a bit during his child hood. Poor folks who ate good on what they grew and foraged on the farm.
You figured right. I actually got some pics on photobucker once and posted them, but daughter was standing here directing every single move, which made no sense to me.
I tried to right it down, and do it again, but never was able to. She has no patience with me on stuff like this. I thought maybe I could try it and it would come back, but no such luck.
I am hopeless on this stuff, but Johnny can do it for you, so it’s all good.LOL
I grow basil in a pot indoors in the winter. I have a basil plant that I planted the first year I gardened in 2010. Dug it up and put it in a pot to bring inside.
I had fresh basil all winter, just kept harvesting it, and then took the pot outside in the spring kept repeating-it is still doing fine. I’ll be cutting it back any day now to bring indoors.
Sounds delish. I love to have a little dried fruit on hand to eat with a handful of nuts for a snack. Sweet and salty a good mix!
LOL. Did Yorkie like the taste, I wonder? I am looking forward to the pics. I got my picks in the other day, but none of them were good enough to post.
I think the light wasn’t right. Will have to try again sometime.
