The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you. This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. There is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!
NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.
Nightly frosts for the past week are doing the remaining tomatoes in but seem to be further ripening the grapes. Have juice 50 quarts so far with perhaps 6 or 8 more to go.
I hve asian pears picked and running out the gazoo. We take extras to the local food bank but may try to dry some. I found that a bit of sugar and few red hots sprinkled over them when I nuke slices makes a tasty side dish.
juice = juiced
hve = have
I have talked about my place and the trials and tribulations of the freaking squirrels/birds and the area is finally decent to look at since Wayne came and helped me.
I wanted to get the pictures on so all of you would know I wasn’t making up stories. I really do have a garden area and I do have a net room now and I do have that TALL “T” squash plant. I made a close up of one of it’s blossoms, they are large. About four seconds after I took the blossom picture and moved away from it, my Yorkie took a small bite out of the blossom. It was hanging very low right at her level so she bit it.
KEEP THE TREE!! Grow some new seedling from seeds. When you have enough limbs that are close in diameter on the new growth on the original tree, graft the limbs from the old tree onto the new seedlings. BTW, you can graft apples onto pear trees.
Garden is doing great since the recent rains. Just need to keep the critters out now. They seem to like digging up my shallots this year.
Does this work?

Is it possible to grow broccoli in the wintertime?

YES. That is Egyptian Walking Onions.
If I can get a picture posted to FR, anybody can. I thank JADB for teaching me how easy Photobucket is to post from, and I never looked back. With my terrible memory, I can’t keep all that HTML coding straight to post it the hard way. That’s the only reason I post to PB, to post to the garden thread. I use another photo site for my personal photo stuff.
Wow, you really do have a garden! :)
There are more pictures coming from Johnny.
Are you growing a little bit of MJ in the left corner? :)
These are alleged to be Marcella's Sesame flowers.

How do you get them to grow sideways? :)
No clue what this is, I just link pictures and cook.
