Starved and flea-covered German shepherd is rescued after being chained to a tree for FOUR YEARS... as heartless owner gets just a $25 fine
An Ohio pet owner has been arrested and slapped with a $25 fine after police rescued a starving, flea-invested and abused German shepherd that had been chained to a tree for four years. Jeremy Shane Temple was taken into custody last Friday from his Middletown home after officers and Butler County Dog Wardens responded to a report that pets were being mistreated at the residence. Officials discovered a mangy-looking and severely emaciated German shepherd dubbed by his owner Toby tethered to a tree in the backyard with only little food and water.

When confronted by police about the pet's horrific living conditions, Mr Temple allegedly responded, 'the dog is not a human.' The suspect told investigators that he had the German shepherd for four years and usually kept him outdoors.
Temple attempted to explain away Toby's skeletal appearance by saying that during the summer months, the pooch normally shed a lot of weight. The malnourished pup covered in sores and tick bites was released into the care of the non-profit PAWS Adoption Center, where staffers renamed him Joseph in honor of the biblical character who was left for dead by his brothers, only to became a leader.

People abuse children too and they need even worse punishment but I will have to leave them to the state.

You go in at night - about 1 am - and get the dog after feeding it for days at the same time...you build your trust over a week or so — and then snatch it - take it to a good home - and and then watch that POS to see if he gets another dog...there was someone there on that property that wasn’t a human — and it wasn’t the German Shepard...

They think that dogs and cats are no better than insects.

Can anybody out there explain the mindset of getting a dog and chaining it to a tree? What’s the point? Get a pet that you never interact with? My dogs have always been part of my family.

What a great picture and a wonderful story. Thank you for rescuing her and giving her a happy life. It would be nice if there was no animal abuse, but it’s even nicer that there are people out there who go out of their way to save the lives of animals that have been mistreated, and for those who provide a safe and happy home to those who have suffered at the hands of cruel humans.
Our dog was a rescue off a farm in Indiana. He's a black labradoodle that was barely fed (he had to compete with other dogs for the scraps the farmer threw outside.)
A friend of ours initially picked him up from a rescue, but couldn't keep him because he was allergic. He called to see if I wanted a new dog (our Shepherd/Retriever mix had passed 5 months prior) so I went over to see what a black labradoodle looked like. Biggest mistake I ever made. Fell in love with the dog on the spot. By his demeanor and behavior, you'd never know he was abused.
Took my sons over the following night to see how they'd get along only to find the three of 'em took to each other like old friends.
We've had Teddy 7 years now. I cannot tell you the absolute JOY he's brought into our lives. When we first brought him home and for several months afterwards he walked so lightly and carefully around our house. We literally had to teach him how to be a puppy and how to play. What a great companion he's turned out to be though.
Like you, if I ever meet the asshat that abused this wonderful, kind and gentle animal I'm probably going to jail for assault and battery. As goofy as this may sound, I happen to believe that Dog's are God's gift to man. What other animal on the planet gives us the unconditional love they do? Here's his picture:

My family had a German Shepherd when I was very young, I barely remember him. Always loved GSD’s though. Beautiful and majestic dogs. That’s a beautiful picture, thanks for sharing.

Some people need the living stuffing beaten out of them.
My cousin who often ended up with useless, abusive skinsacks sharing her bed was unaccountably brave when it came to abused animals. She’d report neighbors like this & get the pet seized. She recognised the cowardly worms as needing to feel power over another being, even if it was a loving creature that cringed & licked its abusers hands.
Too bad she wouldn’t spare herself or her son but *shrug* that’s the way that went.
