Despite the palpable fear in the air I ventured out this morning and headed towards The City. Everything seemed calm- traffic flowing, street lights on- but I'm taking no chances. Even on Free Republic the normal early morning posts to the prayer threads and Religion Forum seem tense.
I figured the rioting won't start until dawn when the government workers who are oh-so-vital to keeping our society funcitoning on every single level don't show up.
Please post your updates as our society plunges into chaos, spins out of control, or whatever other cliche you'd like to use.
Can’t see much thru the acrid smoke from burning buildings ... hear screams from down the block, probably roving gangs raiding the old folks home for meth and Viagra ... packs of rabid wolves prowling the street ... slipped on what I thought was a trickle of water at the curb; turns out it was blood. Stores looted, no food. We’re drinking toilet water and had to eat the neighbor’s border terrier this morning. Son stubbed his toe yesterday and it immediately became gangrenous. We’ll have to take the leg this afternoon. But at least it will be more tender than border terrier.
Radio and TV are both silent. No power, lights, heat. We had to burn the grand piano last night to keep the wolves away. Siding’s next. Stench of garbage and rotting flesh overwhelming. Explosions in Uptown. Are those zombies down by the Chinese buffet?
Haircut appointment canceled. Newspaper didn’t come this morning. Truly these are the Last Days. I only hope the end comes quickly ...
Damn you, Republicans! DAMN YOUUUUUUUUUU ...
What are they going to do when we find out we like the government shut down?
Feeding the the cat, named Barney, ultimately saved the hoot owl from impending doom!
People should take a picture. It’ll last longer.
Of course I see the intersection of Peach Tree Bvd and Peach Tree Street.
You are correct. It is a serious situation and will have large consequences for many people. The fact that our country has gotten to this point should be enough to make any rational person sit down and weep.
However, we trust in God, not government, and can't just sit and cry. We need to continue to live in this world, not withdraw from it. And humor helps. Because we laugh at the foolishness of Washington does not mean we aren't fully aware of how much harm they do to good people. You have my prayers.
But that said, this is an occupational hazard of working for a government too big to stand. We'll just have to view it as taking one for the team and tighten our belts -- plenty of people in America are already doing that as a result of this government, after all.
Tape "kick me" tags on your own butt much?
Think you’ve got problems there...get this...No bowel movement for me this morning. I NEED GOVERNMENT HELP NOW!!!
same as what I told my kids, when I was active duty military and the “government shut down” the troops weren’t running off the post..............
I got to the office early and it is still there! And we still have toilet paper!
Well said, I was a fed until 2 weeks ago-part timer at the USPS. No benefits, I’ll survive.
the hysterical thing is the Tea Party is not even a party, it’s an idea.................
And yesterday, in his campaign speech, Obozo stated that the fed govt is the largest employer in the country so shutting it would hurt the economy.
No one batted an eye lash.....incredible.

Obama didn’t realize that the most common reaction would be “Why the HELL are there so many federal workers?”
After listening to the screams of terror and warnings of the coming apocalypse by the liberal media, I was fully expecting to wake up to meteors falling from the sky, earthquakes, and plagues of locusts. Alas, I was surprised to find a rather normal Tuesday commute into work...
Thank you for being the only one to get it. Apparently we have a lot of posters from Rio Linda this morning.
Mmmmmm, not too sure about that...
I recall reading that entitlement spending is way more than defense though only defense spending is Constitutionally required...just saying.
