Good afternoon, snugs. My trusty phone app tells me it is 5:00 PM in your world. Here in California we are just getting our FRiday started.

I hope you and your dad had an easy and peaceful day.

You should!! I bet you've had some interesting experiences.

With Hallowing coming, this story is interesting, I think.......Stone's Pub is said to be haunted and I imagine will be packed with people on Halloween, as will Salem. It's pretty silly, but it gives the pub and Salem a gimmick and is good for business. The story I originally read was that, in the mid 1800's, it was part of the underground railroad and a young slave girl escaping the south died there and still roams the upstairs halls of the Inn. I told my mom, who grew up just down the street, that I read on the internet that the Inn was haunted. She said it was just a old train station when she was in high school and she never heard that story. Later it became an Inn, then a Pub, and the story was born.

I see the story has changed now. The spirit is supposedly an old drunkard who died there (according to psychics), and who continues to enjoy the atmosphere of the Pub. I guess it changes over time, as necessary. LOL. It's a nice Halloween ghost story..... :-)

Friday I only work till 1.00pm so that means I can get up town and sort out any banking and shopping I need before dad's carer leaves at 3.00pm.

Dad is a bit distressed and unfortunately the blood tests taken earlier today have not come through even though they were marked urgent. I am assured though they will be done over the weekend and if they are abnormal the out of hours doctors service will be advised and I will be contacted. I will though be ringing his doctor's surgery on Monday to check.

That I know. I cared for my mother-in-law in our home until she passed away. Even though I had hospice help and care-givers to help me, it was not easy to care for someone you love and watch them decline, day by day. I would do it all over again without hesitation, but at the time it was incredibly difficult. I do know what you are going through and my heart goes out to you.

Blessed be the care-givers, they are God’s angels on earth.

John Stone? Yes, The John Stone Inn and there is a house on the main drag, (Rte 135) that was the family homestead in Ashland. Looooong history in Massachusetts since the Pilgrims.

Yes, I thought I remembered that he was the “Stone” in your family tree, Cuz. My roots going to back to the early 1600s in Massachusetts too makes it quite probable that our trees connect somewhere in history. I so wish my grandmother was still here to talk to me about her recollection of your grandmother who lived in the house directly behind her. I will still never ever get over that coincidence!

I’m Invisible

October 12, 2013

My friend Jane said something at a work meeting and no one responded. So she repeated it and again no one responded; her co-workers just ignored her. She realized that her opinion didn’t matter much. She felt disregarded and invisible. You may know what that’s like as well.

The people of God felt that way as a nation (Isa. 40). Only they believed it was God Himself who didn’t see or understand their daily struggle to survive! The southern kingdom had been carried away captive into Babylon, and the exiled nation complained: “My way is hidden from the Lord, and my just claim is passed over by my God” (v.27).

While Isaiah agreed that compared to God “the nations are as a drop in a bucket, and are counted as the small dust on the scales” (v.15), he also wanted the people to know that God gives power to the weak and strength to those who need it (v.29). If they waited on the Lord, Isaiah said, He would renew their strength. They would mount up with wings like eagles; they would run and not be weary (v.31).

When you’re feeling invisible or disregarded, remember that God does see you and He cares. Wait on Him, and He’ll give you renewed strength.

Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,
In Thee do we trust, nor find Thee to fail.
Thy mercies how tender! How firm to the end!
Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend. —Grant
Even when we don’t sense God’s presence, His loving care is all around us.

Read: Isaiah 40:25-31

[The Lord] gives power to the weak. —Isaiah 40:29
