Burger King wants people to feel less guilty about gobbling up its french fries.
The worlds No. 2 hamburger chain is launching a new crinkle-cut french fry on Tuesday that it says has about 20 percent fewer calories than its regular french fries.
The chain says a small order of the new Satisfries clocks in at 270 calories because of a new batter that doesnt absorb as much oil. By comparison, a small order of its regular fries, sans crinkles, has 340 calories.

Now they're trying out out-suck their suckiness.
They had the best fries in the business. Throwing that away. Just like McButts did.
If McDonald’s would go back to beef tallow...
And the whole fats-cause-heart-attacks theory has been blown out of the water.
They make fries out of batter? Does that mean they will be perfectly uniform like their creepy onion rings?
Burger King used to make an acceptable fast food level sandwich. The Whopper of today is a dried up undersized piece of grizzle. Wendy’s has gone downhill, too.
Steak and Shake and Culver’s (regional midwest chains) have held their own.
Yup. The more unhealthy it is, the better it tastes.
Screw this low calorie nonsense. What use are low calorie fries when you drink a high calorie large soda?
Their french fries already suck.
Now they will suck diddely uck.
Amen!
Their fries taste awful, so this won’t help.
Are they going to get max headroom to market their new fries?
I saved up a bunch of meat scraps and rendered them into a block of tallow. Made a batch of French fries the other night fried in that tallow. Tallow is amazing stuff: when hot, it doesn’t sizzle and flame, it boils like water instead. The fries turned out pretty good. I understand McDonald’s used to use beef tallow to cook its French fries.
Burger King is also going to change the names of the sizes. The new name for small will be ‘new coke fries’ the new name for medium will be called ‘Chevy volt fries’ and the new large will be known as ‘Beta Fries’
Low fat fries, no way this can flop.
McDonalds fries were so good back then.
Fast food fries have a thin coating of batter on the outside to ensure crispiness.
And yes, now that the whole “dietary fat makes you fat/gives you heart disease” thing has been shown to be a fallacy, they should go back to using animal fat for frying.
the triple whopper with cheese is a great sandwich
but BK fries are always sub-standard
so maybe this will help
(after a couple TWwC’s, for say a total of 8,000 calories.... saving 30 calories on the new slim fries might help BK get into good graces with Mrs. Dear Leader and her SlimYourAss campaign?)
Yep, Dave Thomas would be spinning in his grave over what his "burgers" have become.
Time was that you had to have extra napkins to soak up the juice.
Now they are pre-boiled, tasteless, dry square hunks of some kind of meat.
For those who dislike getting their fingers soaked in oil, Satisfries come with a straw.
I'm sure that 70 calories is going to make all the difference in a meal which includes a 1/2 pound cheeseburger and a milkshake to wash it all down.
Well, you are being protected from transmission fat. Do I really need the /s?
