In a recent interview with whomag.net, KRS-One explained why his music is never played on mainstream radio stations. Apparently, KRS-One will sue radio stations if they play his music.
If the radio ever played my music, I would sue them, KRS-One told whomag.net And they know it, which is why they dont play my music. If you play KRS, Ill sue you. Straight up. I dont even want my music on mainstream radio. They dont deserve it. They destroy careers.
Elaborating further, KRS-One explained why he never felt the need to crossover with mainstream audiences.
Heres a secret, KRS explained. Im going to drop a jewel on you right now. Less is more. Small is big. Marketing and promotion is s---. Physics, mathematics, and cosmology. Why do we breathe? What is oxygen? This is the truth. I only want the truth. I existed before the mainstream. Why would I join them? I watched the mainstream come up and now Im watching it collapse. I dont want to be a part of that. I was born in Hip Hop. Thats all I ever needed. Thats it.
video. "Hey...I can't find nothin' on the radio. Yo, turn to that station..."
"I wanna bite the hand that feeds me, I wanna bite that hand so badly, I wanna wish they had never seen me; so you had better do what you are told, you better listen to the radio."--Elvis Costello
So, nice way to get people exposed to your "music"--suing radio stations nice enough to play you. Maybe this is a viral thing, I don't know, but screw you, Mr. One.
who is KRS one and why should we care
Crap rapper. I just thought it funny that he’s biting the hand that feeds him. Acc to Wikipedia, his instruments are
vocals and turntable.
And even if you disagree with the sentiments, “Radio Song” is a pretty catchy tune. Go ahead, radio stations, play it.
See if he’ll sue ya.
nice spin on why nobody wants to play his junk
... have never heard of him, and i guess he likes it that way...
“Radio Song” is R.E.M’s third worst song next to “Shiny Happy People” and “Everybody Hurts”.
Apparently, he is some kind of young punk black rap-assthat thinks he’s all that.
Let’s watch him mouth off too much and get TuPac’d.....
Would that all rappers follow his lead!
I would think that a musician would want as many people to hear their music as possible...oh well, time to move on to something more important like what kind of way to use on my truck.
Hey, he stole my idea.
what kind of wax...that is ... :=D
It has been a very long time since R.E.M. was cool.
whomag indeed. Who or what is a KRS-One?
"Hey Hey Hey Hey Hey! Pull that bus over to the side of the pretentiousness turnpike, alright!? I want everybody off the bus. I want the shiny people over here, and the happy people over here, ok! I represent angry gun-toting meat-eating f----ng people, alright!" Sit down and shut the ---- up Michael!" - Dennis Leary
‘Radio Free Europe’ is still my favorite REM song. Haven’t liked much of anything they have done since.
Hmm, I actually do like it though...they kind of work the melody of “Nightswimming” into it at one point. Stipe and
fellow alternative-lifestyle singer Kate Pierson of the B52s sang “Shiny Happy Monsters” on Sesame Street, I read...
I’ll give you “Shiny Happy” and “Everybody Hurts”... “Radio Song” is tolerable, in comparison.
“Monster” and everything after that is pretty much un-listenable. “Reckoning” and “Fables of the Reconstruction” are still my favorites.
Not exactly young; in 07 his adult stepson committed suicide. KRS was born in 65 acc to Wikipedia; “Randy Hubbard Parker, stepson of KRS-One, was found dead in his Atlanta, Georgia apartment on July 6, 2007 in an apparent suicide; he was 23. Simone Parker, KRS-One’s wife and Randy’s mother, released a statement on July 10 that stated her son’s death was related to his continuous battle with “severe depression”. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office stated that Parker died of a gunshot wound to the head, and listed the cause of death as suicide”
That’s why it made me laugh. The fool.
