After awhile I gave up on them but there early stuff could be good. In 88 I saw the first (Boston Garden) and last (Great Woods) shows of their Green tour.
One time on some kind of MTV awards show, Stipe was wearing about 6 different T shirts with politically correct statements on them and kept taking them off while spouting some kind
of deep thoughts.

I would sue radio stations if they played my songs too.

I’ll take your word for it...as far as I’m concerned, I’d avoid this yokel like I would a dog turd on the sidewalk.

I’ll sue any radio station that plays his “music” too.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KRS-One

Lawrence Krisna Parker (born August 20, 1965), better known by his stage names KRS-One (a backronym for Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Nearly Everyone, also, K, R, and S are letters from both his middle name and the name of the Hindu god, Krishna), and Teacha, is an American rapper of Jamaican descent. At the 2008 BET Awards, KRS-One was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award for all his work and effort towards the Stop the Violence Movement as well as the overall pioneering of hip hop music and culture. KRS-One is also a vocal supporter of vegetarianism.[1] In an interview with who-mag.net, KRS-One said he will sue radio stations that play his music.

KRS One is just sore that he could never play the Radio game the way Afrika Bambaataa did.

So he is trying to whip up some buzz without playing the game.

I see 4 songs by him in the company server. Sound Of The Police and Outta Here seem to be his two “hits”. Maybe they can do a theme weekend.

Actually KRS-One has been around for a long, long time. And I just don’t mean in pop culture time.

Early 90s... I remember that. Abortion, gay rights, global warming, AIDS, gun control... I forget the other one. That was the night Stipe became a full-blown cliche.

Marketing and promotion is s---.

Marketing and promotion is: spendy. Everything on commercial radio is a commercial that someone has directly or indirectly paid the radio station to transmit, and that includes the music played. Only college radio stations play what they like, and even some of that is suspect. Because of smart phones the traditional commercial radio industry is losing significance.

I have a 45 of that on Hib-Tone records. Needless to say, they hadn’t made it big yet.

Saw them for free during the Piedmont (Park) Arts Festival way back when - in the daytime. Also saw them at the old 688 Club, which was just north of the Varsity.

Not to many people made it out of the Athens Ga scene, but it was fun while it lasted.

My Fave Ga underground band was The Coolies on DB records.

So too for KRS-One. His statement isn’t credible, in my opinion.

I don’t think he has been relevant since the 80’s
