Astronauts Won’t Go To Space Until At Least 2021, NASA Inspector General Says

Lack of money and testing delays mean NASA will not be able to send astronauts into orbit until at least 2021, according to a report released Aug. 15 by the NASA Office of Inspector General.

“NASA plans to delay delivery of several systems required to ‘human rate’ the Multi Purpose Crew Vehicle (MPCV), and as a result, the Agency does not expect the spacecraft to be available for crewed operations until at least 2021,” said Paul K. Martin, NASA’s inspector general.

Under current funding levels, astronauts will be limited to orbital missions, because the systems necessary for surface exploration have not been developed, NASA said. …

We then landed on the moon on 7/20/1969 - less than 7 years later.

It will take us until 2021 - 8 years just to get back up to the floating money toilet in low earth orbit.

It will be very interesting to see what happens first. Will the U.S. have another earth orbital space mission before the People’s Republic of China completes a manned lunar mission? How are we going to feel when the Chinese bring back the flag Neil Armstrong planted on the moon in 1969 as a souvenir?

I’m unconvinced it will be a cold one. In fact, I’m beginning to grow suspicious of why so little rifle ammo is available for U.S. civilians.

Gee I wish we would have an active space exploration program again.
Leaving aside its potential military importance, I just have a real soft spot for a space program where we would go to other roundish surfaces and hopefully colonize, settle there. And we’d learn a lot more, too.

I guess I have a bit of the Dreamer in me.
ha!

Anyway, the Chinese, the Japanese, and others are still working on it. Do we want to be earth-bound when our good Chinese friends have colonized the moon and Mars and...and...?

If they say 2021, it will likely be delayed until 2026, followed by technical problems and further delays pushing it to 2029.

Which would fall under my tagline. Some events are unfolding at an ever increasing rate. We have allowed even welcomed the enemy {Communist, Marxist, Islam,} etc with open arms to gain foothold in our nation and in it's leadership. That's just on the domestic side of this.

On the world scene? Either Tower of Babel Two meaning Divine Intervention to stop what is obviously going to occur or the time predicted in Daniel is at hand. We live in the age where all things including all nations literally see the streets of Jerusalem is now a reality. Only GOD knows what's next.

Russia needs the business and the promotion of her own Space program. We can bomb Syria and still get bargain basement prices for our manned missions. Business is business.

For all intents and purposes the US lead in space is gone.

When gov’t officials say, we will return to space in 20XX I add on an extra 20 years now because I know their estimates are off.

This is a very sad state of affairs, that America is no longer pushing the envelope but rather licking the glue on the flap and “sealing” our fate to the letter...

This is part of America's demise and we can't blame ONLY Obama for his NASA Muslim outreach program. There has been no clear vision for space since JFK, LBJ and RMN...

Very interesting thought. They will see an American relic from a fantastic era long gone. Knowing the Chinese, they will turn the Lunar landing sites into a visitors center.

If China hasn’t done it by 2020, they won’t ever do it.

1979 is when the one child policy took place. Armstrong was 39, as was Aldrin. By 2020, the children of the one child policy will be 41, and the oldest folks outside of the one child policy will be 42. Right now - the last folks outside of the one child policy are 34.
