The discovery in Peru of another tomb belonging to a pre-Hispanic priestess, the eighth in more than two decades, confirms that powerful women ruled this region 1,200 years ago, archeologists said.

The remains of the woman from the Moche—or Mochica—civilization were discovered in late July in an area called La Libertad in the country's northern Chepan province.

It is one of several finds in this region that have amazed scientists. In 2006, researchers came across the famous "Lady of Cao"—who died about 1,700 years ago and is seen as one of the first female rulers in Peru.

"This find makes it clear that women didn't just run rituals in this area but governed here and were queens of Mochica society," project director Luis Jaime Castillo told AFP...

pre-Hispanic priestess

I don't think I've seen that term before. Is "Pre-Columbian" now considered offensive?

Among the North American Plains Indians, homosexuals who became adults tended to be the shamans. They did not, however, rule.
I am skeptical of the conclusions presented. Females in our own society have become the actual elite, at least educationally, but they do not rule. They may become a majority in the Congress, and that looks to be in the cards, but they will not rule. It is not in the genes.

They knew for sure women rule Peru when they found a government decree stating that all toilet seats must be left down under punishment of death.

Yes I agree. This is wishful thinking on the part of feminized academics.

Sadly, in this day and age my default position is to disbelieve aby report of a new academic finding - that’s how corrupted our educational system has become.

Could be true. Or...could be that these were wealthy women whose powerful husbands buried them with great ceremony...remember the Taj Mahal?

The interpretation of history is not immune to those with cultural/political agendas.

Golda Meir of Israel and Margaret Thatcher of Great Britain proved to be exceptions. There have been others throughout the world, not as famous, and not leaders of powerful countries, that have ruled and are ruling in their own spheres. It would be easy to research their names and countries.

Pizarro`s wife, Ines Huaylas, an Incan princess,

sent a message to her MOTHER, not her father,

to send troops to aid her husband from an attack by the other Incan tribes.

Her mother sent the troops and Pizarro`s men were saved.

Shows you who wore the pants in that tribe.

Isolated case and male rule of the system was not disturbed. She did not replace men in the government, There have been great queens but they reigned and perhaps determined the directions for a short time but their passing removed the diamond that was supported and permitted by the mountain of granite. The US is coming to an appearance of female rule with the appointment of women and homosexuals wherever possible, but that will not long survive the passing of the homosexual president.

I agree. The archaeological finds are extremely interesting, but the conclusions reached from the discoveries are quite a jump ... and almost all conclusions of this kind are, in the absence of text.
