Those That Are Not Preparing (Shortened)

The next great economic crisis is rapidly approaching, and most people are going to be totally blindsided by it. Even though the warning signs areglaringly obvious, most Americans continue to believe that our “leaders” know what they are doing and that everything will be just fine. But what will happen when the next great financial crash happens and trillions of dollars of “paper wealth” disappear into thin air? What will happen when the coming credit crunch causes economic activity to dramatically slow down and millions upon millions of people lose their jobs? This shouldn’t sound far-fetched to you. Remember, this is exactly the kind of thing that we saw back in 2008, and the next great financial crisis is likely going to be significantly worse. Our economy is in far worse shape than it was back in 2008, and government dependence is now at an all-time high even though most Americans are still enjoying debt-fueled false prosperity. We are living in the largest debt bubble in the history of the planet, and when it bursts we are going to experience a crippling “adjustment” to our standard of living. Some people understand this and are busy preparing for what is ahead. It has been estimated that there are approximately 3 million ”preppers” in the United States, and that number is growing all the time. Unfortunately, most Americans are not preparing for the coming economic depression and they are going to bitterly regret it.

“It’s amazing how much of a habit having electricity is! I’d go into a room and immediately reach for the light switch.”

When a hurricane comes through, it takes out power for days, 5 days with Ike. I, too, hit the light switch the first day a number of times. Our brains have become hard wired to click light switches. That first day, I also put food scraps into the garbage disposal, then it clicked I had no power to turn it on. Had to dig out the food scraps. Put a stopper in that half of the sink so I would think the next time I used that sink. I did have running water.

After that first day, I didn’t make those automatic mistakes.

In your mind, if a collapse that they engineered comes about the faction who put Obama in place will not press to make a new order purging those not intended to be part of it.

Nor will there arise an organized opposition.

That absolutely is the scenario preppers are staking everything on.

Not only do I think that is foolish...I so assert that ridicule is the most appropriate response to stupidity on a level that it aims to entice others into a very dangerous delusion.

In my kind a collapse is going to be chaotic with a million variables which determine the individual and macro outcomes. To think and to prepare for only one outcome based on an assumption of big govt being able to control the outcome is foolish.

I do not have “faith in big government” and there is zero in my posting to produce such an inference.

I do believe that any idiot counting on disorganization in the event of a collapse or a coup with violent purges to make some childish fantasy of being able to hold off all comers in their own private refuge needs to keep their little fantasy a secret if they do mot want the obvious fallacies in their little dreamworld pointed out.

Someone should write a book showing poor people how to prep with little or no money, especially now that the Obama economy have made us the majority.

If you’re poor, you don’t have the money to buy the book. When you’re making a dime over the EBT level, you already know how to made do. The +50% who don’t have three days of food and water are most likely in the upper income levels who eat out and haven’t a clue how to cook. The only thing anyone needs to know is the basic life skills - sanitation, health, sewing, cooking, hunting, gardening and common sense.

The past couple weeks, I’ve put up over two dozen jars of jelly. This poor prepper’s stock of jelly and Christmas shopping is done!

You have plenty of faith in big govt. You believe that Obama can bring this country down and maintain a level of organization.

But feel free to enjoy your little unicorns and fairy tails while throwing insults at those who have the guts you lack.

Me, I’d rather be prepared to face different alternatives which might occur.

No.

I think he might conceivably be a major contributing factor in a coming collapse together with factors such as the bankruptcy of the welfare states starting with Europe but continuing globally.

I have never thought he could retain the government intact and 8f you bother to read my posting history you will find my assessment of where we are likely going has been consisant over the past six or eight years.

I more envision a break up with several factions like the civil wars in Liberia back Iin the eighties.

That said, I expect that any communist (lets call Reid and Obama what they are) factions, islamic factions, Drug cartel warlords, racial supremist factios etc to try to clear out their perceived opponents in the same way the Muslim brotherhood are right now.

I would suggest that it would behoove people to join up with whatever force arises to restore libery rather than throw their life away in some doomed attempt to hold out in an impregnable or unlocatable fortress. That has not been viable since the war of the roses.

Freedom is worth having. The only way to get it back if things fall apart is the same way the founders got it in the first place. You wanna tell me some dopey story about how Washington really sat warm and cozy in hidden Mount Vernon until the british had gone away?

When reality pierces cherished delusions it seems so harsh.
Too bad.

Study Sun Tsu, and military history.
The professional development reading list for the Marine Corps has some very good material.

You’re a fool who only comes to these threads to throw insults at other people. Your continued belief in big govt and calm acceptance of a role in an oppressive regime is disgusting.

Profession development for any of the services teaches only what the Commanders want taught.

I have never expressed a belief in big government.

If I thought big government was infallible we would not be debating what happens when it loses control.

I have observed that forces arise when you have a collapse to restore government, generally more that one such faction. I have pointed out the fact that each of said factions is far more powerful than individuals trying to hold out by themselves.

If individuals are more powerful than military factions trying to become the new government then I am indeed an idiot. On the other hand, if armies can still forage supplies off of isolated holdings as they have for thousands of years then I am not.

There is obviously an idiot in the debate either way.

My purpose, however, is not to make you feel insulted. It is to try to bring you back down to reality and to encourage you to try to restore constitutional government if we collapse. That might mean bearing arms, or it might mean farming, or it might mean setting up a small refinery to produce fuel from petroleum in the ground where you are. Lots of things have to be done to supply logistical requirements and feed the populace.

Hiding away is guaranteed to fail in the medium and long runs.

I could not possibly in good conscience fail to point out the military realities of a collapse.

I suppose having a martial education does appear to make one “up on a high horse” to those who lack training in such venues if such is the subject matter. Too bad. You need to spend less time whining about my tone, or making spurious claims that I am somehow a big government advocate merely because I am pointing out the fallacy in the idea that stockpiling resources equates to keeping resources.

You have before you the internet. It is like a library to an extent.

Why don’t you try researching “foraging armies” for a bit. That will not give you the depth of my training but it will clue you in that I am merely relaying on this thread lessons that have been relearned by people who would qualify as preppers for thousands of years.

Do you truly the mental capacity to enter into the brief course of research I suggested to you? Or have you merely been gathering a huge stockpile of “lazy” in case that is ever in short supply?

Or are you default acknowledging that you know many of the assumptions behind prepping get a mortal blow from even a little bit of historical study?

So at this point we can all see that nothing can persuade you to look at the subject at hand from an intellectual perspective.
