Karen Black, the prolific actress who appeared in more than 100 movies and was featured in such counterculture favorites as "Easy Rider," ''Five Easy Pieces" and "Nashville," has died.
Black's husband, Stephen Eckelberry, says the actress died Wednesday from complications from cancer. She was 74.

I remember seeing a similar kind of movie called “Nightmares” where in one of the stories a young Emillo Estevez is trapped in a video game.

The pride of Weehawken High School.
I was in college when that came out. Damn well done and damn scary.
...I was 26 when this came out, and while I enjoyed it, it didn’t scare me at all...now, if we go back another 14 years to 1961, and Thriller’s ‘The Hungry Glass’, now we’re talking about one scared kid...
Rod Serling’s “Night Gallery” time frame too, correct?
I loved that show. “The Devil Is Not Mocked” is one of my favorites.
McCloud, Columbo, Night Stalker, Spielberg’s “Duel”, the list goes on.....
I was thinking I should go back and watch it now. See if it has a similar impact.
Often these movies don’t match the expectations of our memories.
Karen Black,
Herve Villachaise,
Emilio Estevez’s career,
The Love Boat,
Lauren Tewes,
Matt Damon’s recent box office success
The New York Yankees
The Dorothy Hamill haircut
All gone.
“I’m not going to stand here and listen to this baloney.”
“He won’t you know. He doesn’t stand for baloney.”
Remember them all very well.
Always like “Columbo”. Peter Falk was a good actor. Like him in the movie “Anzio”. The scene where the German sniper nails him just as he stands up to try to go to flank him was horrifying when I was kid. Robert Mitchum was in it as well. The look on his face was terrible in that scene.
Exactly!
They’re remaking it you know. Ugh...
“Dorothy Hamill Haircut”
That was a huge style for a while back then. America’s darling Olympic kid....
Oh, brother... Are they gonna get Robert Downey, Jr. to do a cameo ?
That would be cool!
Imagine, RD, Jr. was second billing to Rusty Griswold in 2 movies: Weird Science and Johnny B. Good (with a young Uma Thurman).
Wow...
Oh sure!
It’s amazing Anthony Michael Hall’s career largely crashed after he got to be all full grown (he was great in his teen roles, though). His sidekick in Weird Science, Ilan Mitchell-Smith, left acting and became a teacher.
I had never seen that show before but a local channel recently began showing it.
I’ve probably seen every single Twilight Zone episode.
Agreed.
I saw that; he’s a teacher.
Chet (Bill Paxton) did ok too.
Paxton I’d rank second to Downey in success for the cast. He was, after all, in “Titanic.”
Good call.
