Drew Johnson, the editorial page editor of the Chattanooga Times Free Press was fired after 14 months on the job for publishing an editorial with a headline that read: "Take your jobs plan and shove it, Mr. President." The editorial ran Tuesday, the same day Obama visited Chattanooga.
The powers-that-be posted a notice Thursday explaining the firing:
The headline was inappropriate for this newspaper. It was not the original headline approved for publication, and Johnson violated the normal editing process when he changed the headline. The newspapers decision to terminate Johnson had nothing to do with the content of the editorial, which criticized the presidents job creation ideas and Chattanoogas Smart Grid. The Free Press page has often printed editorials critical of the president and his policies.
Via his (unverified) Twitter account, Johnson disputes that he was terminated for doing what he claims is standard procedure:

It was true, however.
I have never witnessed such a reign of terror.
Any criticism of “the one” is met with brutal fist in face force. Restaurants are shuttered. People are audited. Mobs storm homes and businesses. This is “brown shirt” stuff.
Ruination of careers. It is amazing that it all goes on without so much a peep from media or any quarter.
Blasphemy!
It bemuses me too. There’s genuine evil behind it and it’s a reign of intimidation, and if the unverified tweet is true, they don’t insist on standing on protocol when it comes to headlines at that paper. Once more an entity that would have stoutly stood up to this stuff, crumples to its knees. Well there is but one power in this world that will not crumple to its knees and that is God. I think God is giving us a big hint here about where to go.
Indeed, it was inappropriate.
It should have said, “Shove it your smelly Obamahole, you cretinistic piece of slime.”
Excellent headline! 100% true & accurate.
The firing had everything to do with the content of the editorial, otherwise there would never have been a need for or a need to apply the policy. In the event Johnson is correct about the use of the headline having occurred while employing customary procedures, the newspaper's management is even more dishonest with its statements about the incident. Perhaps the newspaper's management can explain how Johnson was going to be able to publish that headline with the approval of the newxzspaper management?
I like your headline even better.
Sure. You get fired for stuff like that.
I don't know if they ever caught the person who changed a Boston Globe editorial headline back in the Carter years to "More Mush From the Wimp," but if they did he or she would probably have been fired, too.
If this ad went out online whoever put it up would also have been fired:
And just what is the correct way to politely reply to a KNOWN AND PROVEN LIAR AND ID THIEF that is DESTROYING OUR NATION?

chuckle
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
Israel had their golden calf. America has a black pig. Different idols. Same principle.
The articles title should have been “Go away you communist, Kenyan liar”
Oh yea
So the people allow for (are tolerant to) so many sacrifices, without question? I get it.
Just keep your head down; do not make eye contact. No waves; no wake, no sound - pass it on to the next generation (if it cares to breathe free).
