Barry and Val send in the Brown Shirts.....

The headline was inappropriate for this newspaper. It was true, however.

I have never witnessed such a reign of terror.
Any criticism of “the one” is met with brutal fist in face force. Restaurants are shuttered. People are audited. Mobs storm homes and businesses. This is “brown shirt” stuff.
Ruination of careers. It is amazing that it all goes on without so much a peep from media or any quarter.

Indeed, it was inappropriate.
It should have said, “Shove it your smelly Obamahole, you cretinistic piece of slime.”

“The newspapers decision to terminate Johnson had nothing to do with the content of the editorial,”
The firing had everything to do with the content of the editorial, otherwise there would never have been a need for or a need to apply the policy. In the event Johnson is correct about the use of the headline having occurred while employing customary procedures, the newspaper's management is even more dishonest with its statements about the incident. Perhaps the newspaper's management can explain how Johnson was going to be able to publish that headline with the approval of the newxzspaper management?

The headline was inappropriate for this newspaper. It was not the original headline approved for publication, and Johnson violated the normal editing process when he changed the headline.
Sure. You get fired for stuff like that.
I don't know if they ever caught the person who changed a Boston Globe editorial headline back in the Carter years to "More Mush From the Wimp," but if they did he or she would probably have been fired, too.
If this ad went out online whoever put it up would also have been fired:

What if he had made the exact same headline change when Bush was president?
A promotion?
A private parking spot?
A bonus?
This has Valerie Jarrett stink all over it.
