There probably were - just holograms. That way the engineers could turn them off whenever they wanted.....:)

John McCain looks vaguely like an Engineer. But only vaguely.

Engineer? Hardly. Wasn’t he the pilot who dropped a missile on the deck of his carrier?

Actor Michael Berryman kind of comes close...
...as does Peter Garrett, former lead singer of Midnight Oil and now an Australian MP...

There was a movie called “the watermelon man” about a white guy who turned black. The actor was a black guy, and they used makeup for the first few minutes of the movie to make him look white. Problem was, he was the shape of a black guy, but with white coloring. He looked absolutely freaky. maybe you saw a black guy with albinism.

This is the closest we get.

Boy! I truly wanted to like this movie.
it was just too flawed.
people I know who saw it on the big screen liked it more than people like me who saw it on my own ‘big’ flat screen.

When I was on Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) submarines we’d spend 30 days in Scotland and rarely see the sun or even the sky and then we’d spend 75-80 days submerged. Most of us looked like that when we returned to Connecticut where we didn’t get much sun anyway. We used to call it the “FBM frog-belly white complexion” and you could walk around base and know who the boomer sailors were.
