The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread ... there is no telling where it will go and that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!
NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.
Got my cattle panels today for the Texas Prepper’s Greenhouse..well, okay, my gunsmith got them for me..but I had to drag them into the backyard.
Now, I just have to wait for some cold weather..November, maybe?
Oh. My. Goodness. I bet that was a painful, unpleasant learning experience......shudder....
LOL!!! Cleared your sinuses, did it?

Hey /johnny some time back you recommended a soak for seeds prior to planting but I cant remember fully. Seaweed mix I think. Do you soak all of your seeds and with what mixture/ ratio and for how long?
Some seeds, like tobacco, there's no point, I can hardly see them anyway.

Danke /j man— going to try that out on some lettuce and basil seeds I harvested from the garden already. Only about half of my planted seeds seem to germinate so maybe this soaking method will improve the odds.
Oh wow - I’m jealous!! That is what I want ... one of these days it IS going to happen! :-)
My actual recipe (more or less) is 2 oz liquid seaweed, 1 oz liquid fish, 2 oz molasses per gallon of water.
That's the same mix I use to spray for foliar feed and put in the drip trays for bottom feeding seedlings.
Good luck. My basil self-seeds here, so I rarely have to worry about starting seeds, it's just back every year.

Ahhh the molasses, lest we forget..... I asked a young black employee at Walmart where they stocked it and he never even heard of it. Times have changed ay? Anyway I found it and brought it back to show him — everyday brings an education of sorts for us all if we are open to receive it.
Found this you tube video on building a Texas preppers greenhouse from cattle fence and plastic. Pretty interesting...

Nope; me neither; only thing that still goes into the live traps is skunks, and haven’t got any of even them since May. That is NOT a complaint, LOL
I did spot a rabbit in the garden night before last, raiding the nearly ready to harvest wheat & beans. It had managed to force an opening in the chicken wire around the bottom of the fence.
Last night I waited for it to show up, and permanently ended its career of terrorizing poor defenseless vegetables.
I never sucked my thumb, but my brother did, and my Mom would "paint" his thumb with some kind of horrible burning stuff to make him stop.
You may have invented a stop smoking product similar to the old thumb sucking stopper.
My parents tried that on my brother, he ended up liking it!
Why wait? You can plant vining plants and let them climb the cattle panels.
I just did something crazy and requested seeds from GRIN, the government seed bank! Eeek!
Well, now you will be on yet another government list..Will they let you plant them at the re-education camp?
Okay, now I had to go read about GRIN. I see they also have sperm..
