The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you won’t be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked.

Oh, no, at least your bell peppers come up. Today's seeds I ordered from Park Seeds. I usually order from Burpee, but they didn't have wa was tsai (mini chinese cabbage), so I ordered from Park. I think it's the first time I've ordered from them.
Today I noticed a hole dug under the fence, and one hole dug in the yard..I wonder if it's an armadillo..Hope it's not a skunk.
I am going on yet another dental adventure on Monday..It's taken two weeks to get in to have a failed implant removed.
I swear I tried to unscrew it myself, but it was a no go.. It is hanging down about a half inch lower than my other teeth..I've been wearing a fluoride tray to hold the dang thing up..
At least it doesn't hurt, but I figured it's destroying the bone that's left in the socket..
So, Marcella, you have my complete sympathy.

I know you love me as I love you - we are much alike. I could take another pill at 6:30 and I don’t remember if I took it - it’s 6:50 now. I went in the kitchen to load some stuff in the dishwasher and I don’t think I took the pill before doing that. I’m taking that pill. I took it so if I took two, maybe it will knock me out and that would be good.
I don’t get the joke on the last cartoon.

I didn’t know implants could come out - thought that was permanent. I don’t have any but I know those things are very expensive to have put it.

new crowns & four implants was around $40,000..With all the "other stuff"..multiple bone grafts, night guard, fluoride trays, sedation during dentist visits..probably over $47,000.
They look like Amaryllis, but those usually bloom earlier than now..I have a pink one that only shows up every five or six years..

Multiple bone grafts? It sounds like the work you had done might have been due to damage to your mouth rather than deterioration due to age.
My dentist is two street lights from my house and the lights are close together. That’s why I went to him when I moved here in 2003. I needed to be able to get myself home by myself. That’s a dumb reason to pick a dentist - how far is he from my house?
However, he is the best dentist I’ve ever had. I had to have a tooth out, and he stitches the wound closed and no other dentist ever did that. Due to his doing that, there is almost no bleeding at all. No pads stuck in your mouth for hours afterward. It heals really fast. And, after the initial stick for the deadening and some gas along the way, there is no pain when he does it.
I complained to the dental assistant for having to have a tooth out. She said to be glad I had teeth at my age.

They do bone grafts quite a bit when they do implants..they put the goopified bone into the socket where your old tooth was if you've had any bone loss..
I'm a tooth grinder & a smoker..both cause bone loss..oh, and getting old causes bone loss, and, I'm that, too.
Lol, easy peasey..
I've even taken out my own subcutaneous stainless steel sutures that had come undone & were poking me from the inside out...
Meanwhile, back to the subject of gardening...
I am going to plant some toy choi, and wa wa tsai today..even though it’s too hot for it to thrive.
I planted yard long bean seeds and cuke seeds two days ago, and it looks like they’re already breaking ground...unless those are very orderly weeds, which I doubt.

I saw they had a list of “mild” garlics, which would probably be appropriate for Darlin’s and my palettes. Do you know what might grow well in northern Oklahoma?
I saw this blurb about China Dawn, and sounds interesting. Do you know anything about it yourself? I thought it was interesting that it suggested others to plant along with it for a sustained garlic harvest:

Well, in northern OK, you have coooold winters usually so you can grow stuff with ‘Siberian’ in the name LOL. Those aren’t happy in my hood here about 150m from the GOM.
I order the ‘Creole’ variety to be sure they’re happy down here. Other than that I don’t really know much about garlics.
The farm I ordered from is ‘Forever Yong’ in AZ. I figure if it’s happy in AZ it’ll probably be happy here.
I had really good luck with their garlic a couple of years ago but didn’t get around to ordering it last year. The difference between the different varieties and the ‘generic’ garlic you get at Kroger is amazing. That much I will say.
