Last night was the 2013 MLB All-Star game. Ah, America’s pastime! Who doesn’t love a good baseball game? And what better way to open up America’s game then with a heartfelt rendition of ‘God Bless America’? And…wait, a minute. Who is this guy coming out to sing God Bless AMERICA?

Thank you! “God Bless America” is a nice party-piece for a tenor: shows off the range without being too difficult. I’m sure he did it well. I like some of his Spanish songs; he has nice, clear diction ... as is usual for people who learned Spanish in school!
Selena Quintanilla (the role that made J-Lo a star) also didn’t learn Spanish until she wanted to perform in Spanish.

It’s the timing more than anything else.
Americans are being outraged by a Congress that is contemplating making legal 30 millions of illegal Hispanic immigrants. Americans without jobs are watching the jobs being given to illegals and those who pay no taxes. We watch as the IRS sends checks to these people illegally and does nothing about it.
Certainly many people of Hispanic origins are good Americans —legal Americans—and love our country and have every right to sing the National Anthem, unfortunately the ones complaining jumped to a wrong conclusion and that conclusion was magnified by the point in time we are going through.
An apology is owed, that he will not get. it’s too bad.

Those remarks remind me of the statements made by Bill the Butcher in the story “Gangs of New York” where only the “NATIVES” had rights. This was extremely racist and that’s something I won’t tolerate.
