So sweetheart ... how do you like my doomsday basement bunker?
As someone who lived through the Cuban missile crisis, and can remember the weekly (in our case Friday at noon) air raid warnings, and the duck and cover training at school, this was a real threat.
WWII was less than 20 years in the past.
The Soviet Union was a real threat.
Would air raid shelters actually work, most likely not since they did not take into account what you do when the attack is over. But that is not how you have to look at it.
People were scared. What could a father do to protect their families. This was one option.

I go back further,,,, into the 50s for grade school. I remember the” get under your desk and cover your neck with your hands” drills.
Let’s all go to the bunker ... and get something to eat!

Go to Village / Town / County officials and ask !
Ask where the nearest fall out shelter is !
Ask who is responsible for maintaining fresh supplies .
Where is the nearest tornado shelter , flood shelter .. etc.
Now a “Drone-proof” shelter.

When I was a Girl Scout in the 1960’s, we stayed overnight in a shelter. We slept on bunk beds and ate soldier’s rations probably left over from Korea or WWII.
I went to grade school in DC and we did a lot of the ‘bend over’ or ‘run to the school basement’ drills. I had no idea people did them in other parts of the country until fairly recently.
That’s a Washington-centric mindset for you. : )
Obama’s narcissistic mind translates that super bunker and similar means of survival into a Security Blanket. He thinks he’s immune to anything disastrous.
This man is as evil as anyone who has ever lived on this planet and we’re going to suffer greatly, I’m afraid.
