Reform means to take something in existence and rework it to make it work .. or work better.

First of all, We already HAVE a "path to citizenship". My wife and I are going through the process right now. Seems to be pay their fees, wait the time, an d after a prescribed time, you take an oath and she's a citizen.

Right now, we're waiting for the last phase before citizenship, the removal of the initial two year "permanent" green card for a ten year "permanent" green card (don't ask .. I don't understand it either)

THAT'S "the path to citizenship"

I can't see much of any variation whether your male or female, a spouse or a fiancee or a student. They all have their "time to wait" and fees to pay.

So there's nothing to "reform" in our immagration system

I've also heard the words "broken system"

What, I want to ask .. is broken?

There is nothing on this planet that is broken, that SOMEone can't fix.

If my car breaks, I fix it if it's easy and pay the money for someone else to fix it if it's something I can't. Sometimes I've given my car to my son-in-law and said .. "I don't know what happened, it just stopped", and because he's a motorhead .. he diagnoses and fixes the damned thing.

It's true the immigration "system" ( I thought we had laws ) is broken.

But that's because Ted Kennedy shredded them in 1965.

What he put in place was a free-for-all that allowed in tens of millions of third worlders who have no idea what a functioning Republic looks like.

And so we ended up with 1/4 of Mexico's population, which is a big number.

No functioning immigration "system" would have let that happen. Certainly not theirs. Mexico is still Mexico. China is still overwhelmingly....Chinese.

That's cuz they play for keeps.

If there's something broken about the system as it exists, it's that it doesn't cope with the numbers of people it already has to, as you point out.

But that just means there are too many coming here in the first place.

A million a year? 90,000 a month? Those are the LEGAL numbers.

The U.S. is g-g-g-gone. But not China, Mexico, India, Korea, Pakistan, etc etc...they will survive as the countries they were.

not to patronize but laws are only effective if they are enforced. Roughly 47 million illegal immigrants are currently in the US and there have been laws in place for years and had they been enforced this problem would be in general terms, many many time less concerning.

The “amnesty” part (as far as citizenship goes) will be so hard that most illegals will realize they are better off without messing with it...and of course the borders will stay basically the way they are now.

Because the left often distorts language and we let them get away with it. Obamacare wasn't healthcare "reform" either. It was govt takeover. Our immigration system isn't "broken," it's unenforced. Abortion isn't "choice" and pro-homosexual policy is anything but "tolerance." Obama's "transparent" administration is cloaked in secrecy. The left is masterful at manipulating language and conservatives don't call them out for it nearly as often as they should.
