Eating more insects could help fight world hunger, according to a new UN report. The report by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization says that eating insects could help boost nutrition and reduce pollution. It notes than over 2 billion people worldwide already supplement their diet with insects. However it admits that "consumer disgust" remains a large barrier in many Western countries. The report suggests that the food industry could help in "raising thestatus of insects" by including them in new recipes and adding them torestaurant menus. It goes on to note that in some places, certain insects are considered delicacies. For example some caterpillars in southern Africa are seen as luxuries and command high prices. Most edible insects are gathered in forests and serve niche markets, the report states.

Reminds me of a Solzenitsyn Kolyma Gulag story about starving slave laborers finding an ancient animal inside an ice formation ... that they tore into and “ate with relish.”
If I wanted to eat insects or if I had to for lack of food, that’s ok, but the UN is trying to force this issue on westerners. Another example of third world trying to change our society and culture. “It’s not fair” that we can use “the world’s resources” to eat meat when they are eating insects.
Actions have consequences. To start depending on insects would negatively affect birds and other mammals, and start a chain reaction up the chain.
It’s like if we all went vegetarian. So much more farmland would be needed as opposed to pasture, lots more pesticides/herbicides, etc., it would starve out lots of animals as they are displaced.
We can’t just wholesale change the diet of human beings and expect that it would have no impact.
Not that I think we are all going to start eating bugs, anyway.
It is my understanding that the UN "ambassadors" and their overpaid staffs dine on nothing but the finest of viands in a city that is noted for good restaurants (as well as being an 0bama loving liberal sh!thole.) I going out on a limb here, but I'd venture to guess that none of those advocating the ingestion of insects go home to a meal of grasshoppers at night. No matter what government you work for one of the joys of government work is spending other people money.
The FDA already allows a certain amount of insect and other matter in various food products.
Palmetto Pound Cake, anyone?
part of Michelle’s “how to eat” advisory program?
That really is the reason for all this. It’s not ‘fair’ for those eeevvvviiiilllllll rich White Americans to eat delicious meat while those poor oppressed people have to eat bugs.
Maybe that's why red velvet cake is all the rage lately on the lib food networks.
I totally agree, but I am thinking that being able to eat insects might help you survive after the Ubama bank failures that he engineered.
Could be worse...
One roachburger, hold the larvae.”You want flies with that?”
Will they be seeing insects on their catered banquets?
Let them eat Crickets....
Hakuna Matata!!!
Ain’t no passing craze! It means no worries, for the rest of our days... it’s a problem free, philosophy... Hakuna Matata!
Right, I am going to follow the advise on nutrition from people who come from countries which do not even know what a flush toilet is.
A bunch of lessor cultures gathering together in a building/organization over funded by the USA telling us all what to eat?
Like I am going to eat something which had been crawling over a pile of crap 30 seconds before it was captured. I don’t think so.
Let the turd world eat bugs as it seems they are so inferior they cannot get out of their own way. Most races/cultures have been dissatisfied enough with their lot in life to try and improve it. Not for turd world types though. Not all are equal no matter how many times a liberal lies about it.
Shrimp is a kind of sea insect.
Insects.. let’s see.
Exoskeleton, 6 legs...
Hmmm , lobster, shrimp? Ok I’ll have another.!
