Consumer Reports went big on the Tesla Model S today, announcing the car had scored 99/100 on its rating system the highest rating of any vehicle the magazine has ever tested. Its truly a remarkable car, an excerpt of the review concludes, although one still limited by the inherent constraint of any all-electric vehicle: a battery that can take hours to fully charge, complicating long distance travel.

Ask Jeremy Clarkson what happens if you give Tesla a poor review.
Typical “non biased” consumer reports.
Chortle
I recall that he caught flak for it.
CR has been full of lefties for years, especially the dumb ones who can’t locate the on button on a coffee pot or a sweeper and then moan loudly about their own ignorance. They never met a government regulation they didn’t like and, like their DC brethren, are constantly on the hunt for a freebie.
When people tell me they make buying decisions based on CR ratings I steer well clear and advise them to remove all sharp objects from their homes.
Tesla sued the BBC and lost.

They were especially unhappy with the photo of the crew pushing the car into the garage for charging.
This is a Ninety Thousand Dollar Car.
In a matter of moments I can pick out (from among dozens of cars) three $30,000 cars that are better than the Tesla. In terms of economy, mileage, value, reliability, resale, insurance costs, and so on and so on.
But who am I? I will defer to our CR overlords.

Look at that S car go!
IIRC Consumer Reports got busted years ago for uprating certain Japanese cars for financial gain.
All it needs is a gasoline engine - even a Prius-like hybrid system - and the car might even be worthy of that praise.
Consumer Reports lost any remaining credibility when they endorsed ObamaCare. They are for the elites and not for the middle class.
i would take any ford escape over a tesla any day.
I have a suggestion...
If they were trying to make it look like every other bland luxury sedan on the market...they succeeded.
It is an amazing car. however, it is strictly for around town and is for this who want another bobble that demonstrate a certain exclusivity ...
I’ve been in one and a Fiskar. Beautiful but, i prefer CO2generators
It just generates its CO2 over at the power plant.
Given the immense horsepower of this beast, I suspect if you run the numbers it actually releases considerably more CO2 per mile than my Vibe. If you factor in transmission losses, charging inefficiencies, etc.
I dropped Consumer Reports years ago due to their extreme left leaning reviews.
I dropped my subscription to CR after several years because their parent organization continually spammed my mailboxes (email and snail) with propaganda for leftist causes, especially Obamacare. They are not for the consumer. They are for big government control.
