There is an expression I picked up years ago ...

"We MAKE our habits
and our habits MAKE us ..."

Whether it is good, or not so good (staying up too late, over eating or nibbling often, being late, not doing things we like having done). Procrastination!!! Hard habit to break. Very like chains holding me back from what I desire to accomplish!!

What A Treat, Bob!***This Poem Always Lifts Me Up.

But Today

I’m worried about next week,
When some debts are coming due,
And concerns about my family’s health,
Are constantly in view.

But today, the sun is shining,
And my heart is quite at peace,
For the moment, at this instance,
I’m not looking for surcease.

I have some years behind me,
And more yet still ahead,
But on the whole they pleased me,
More than filling me with dread.

For today, the birds spread wings of joy,
To embrace the world “this much”,
Just as do I, in reaching out,
To keep my heart in touch.

In the distant future, when I as memory,
Will haunt the hills and hollows,
Of a changed vicinity,
Then my touch will be as follows:

Folk will be seeing rainbows,
Or singing birds in flight,
And sometimes thoughts of mine,
Will then intrude upon their sight.

For tomorrow will be coming,
While I wend another way,
And my focus will not be with things,
That may be coming, but today.

Peace, Be Still

May 29, 2013

My friend Elouise has a wonderful way of putting life into clever perspectives. Once when I asked her, “How are you today?” I expected the usual “fine” response. Instead, she said, “I’ve got to wake Him up!” When I asked what she meant, she kiddingly exclaimed, “Don’t you know your Bible?!” Then she explained: “When the disciples faced trouble, they ran to wake up Jesus. I’m going to run to Him too!”

What do we do when we are stuck in a troubling situation with nowhere to run? Maybe, like the disciples who were stuck in a life-threatening storm, we run to Jesus (Mark 4:35-41). Sometimes, however, we may try to bail ourselves out of trouble by seeking revenge, slandering the one who has caused our problem, or just cowering fearfully in the corner as we sink into despair.

We need to learn from the disciples who fled to Jesus as their only hope. He may not bail us out immediately, but remembering that He is in our boat makes a difference! Thankfully, He is always with us in the storms of life, saying things like “Peace, be still!” (v.39). So, look for Him in your storm and let Him fill you with the peace that comes from knowing He is near.

Lord, teach us to run to You in the midst of trouble.
Forgive us for trying to bail ourselves out, and lead
us to the peace of trusting Your wisdom and ultimate
deliverance. Thank You that You will help us!
Make Jesus your first option when the storms of life threaten you.

Jesus was praying, sleeping or teaching continually. Would it be that we could live with this same intention.

Praying, spending time talking with our LORD God,

sleeping, resting from His days of walking the area and speaking to all he met along the way, crowds, or individuals, they were the center of his attention,

and with miracles occurring to all that sought and asked Jesus for healing..

PEACE be unto you. Faith is necessary to perform miracles. It does happen today occasionally.

Do we realize we are teaching all the time, whether we realize it or not? We are watched by eyes we do not see. Neighbors friends, family, people in the work place, other drivers, where ever we go whatever we do eyes are seeing and noticing.

Father, teach us, give us understanding of thy beautiful Scriptures. May we grow in wisdom, kindness, mercy, and forgive us our transgressions. We thank thee for all the many blessings showered upon us continually. May we be truly thankful and of service to thee LORD keeping our eyes on thee LORD, in Jesus name amen.

This is so darling, Meg.

“Girls just wanna have fun!”

We are expecting a new baby girl in September. Nikki is expecting so Braelyn will have a little sister. The name they are bouncing around is Lyndon Reese. Isn’t that (Lyndon) Johnson’s name? Nikki wasn’t even born when Lyndon Johnson was President. And you know how this younger generation are on history. I don’t want to put my two cents in on this one. Nana’s just keep their mouths shut! LOL! Braelyn was 3 in March and of course, Nikki still teaches. She will start back teaching in August. It seems these young people today can do it all.

Of course, I went back to work after my second one. But I had Mama around then to help. I think I worked about 2 years after that second one but my favorite job was being home with my children. Nothing made me happier than that!

My physical therapist told me that he and his wife were expecting before they told anyone else. I prayed every single night for that little baby for seven months.

I could hear his voice cracking up, and feel the tears (yeah, through the telephone), when he called to tell me that she was here, and all went well!

They named her Reagan Elise. Now I could (ahem) learn to like the name Reagan!

DANG, I MISS HIM!!! (sniff, sniff............)

The Tragic Flaw

May 30, 2013

In literature, a tragic flaw is a character trait that causes the downfall of a story’s hero. That was true of Uzziah, who was crowned king of Judah at age 16. For many years, he sought the Lord; and while he did, God gave him great success (2 Chron. 26:4-5). But things changed when “his fame spread far and wide, for he was marvelously helped till he became strong. But when he was strong his heart was lifted up, to his destruction” (vv.15-16).

Uzziah entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar (v.16), openly defying God’s decree. Perhaps pride convinced him that God’s rules applied to everyone except him. When Uzziah raged against the priests who told him this was not right, the Lord struck him with leprosy (vv.18-20).

In literature and in life, how often we see a person of good reputation fall from honor into disgrace and suffering. “King Uzziah was a leper until the day of his death. He dwelt in an isolated house, . . . cut off from the house of the Lord” (v.21).

The only way we can prevent the nectar of praise from becoming the poison of pride is by following the Lord with a humble heart.

Humility’s a slippery prize
That seldom can be won;
We’re only humble in God’s eyes
When serving like His Son. —Gustafson
The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but man is tested by the praise he receives. —Proverbs 27:21 NIV

Disobedience is the tragic flaw. Our presumption ... we know best what we want to do.

Self will is the tragic flaw. Why are we disobedient? God’s commands are not onerous.

How can anyone be atheist? Humanist? We are surrounded by wonders and miracles and many do not see or consider them one iota.

Unbelief is the tragic flaw.
