There are probably many people in history who have received more credit than they deserved. Excluding any US Presidents in the past century (that would be too easy), what three historic figures do you think are the most overrated?
Not guilty!
I mean.....not overrated.
I’ll add Princess Diana to the names above
Andrew Jackson gave the British the most lop sided defeat they ever suffered. They lost more men in several battles and lost nearly all in others but they also inflicted lots of casualties in all those.
At New Orleans Jackson suffered less than 50 casualties while the British suffered thousands.
Arthur Nielsen
Agreed. Certainly the most overrated non-President political figure of the last twenty years. What exactly is so great about him? If he was white, would any of us know who he is?
Your list might be the closest to what I would have. I’d take out Sagan and put in Nietzsche. Art has been terrible since Picasso for the most part.
Definitely FDR. Then I would add Woodrow Wilson and Barack Obama.
He had an Obama complex.
Eygpt, Russia, Waterloo. Three times he expected to win because it was his destiny, and didn't take into account local factors - supply lines, weather, competant opponents.
Martha Raye.
I might change one of mine to Woody Allen after that clip:-)
1. Karl Marx
2. Gandhi
3. Mao
Bernard Law Montgomery
MLK
Che
Bill Gates
Fidel Castro
Any Soviet / Chi-com Leader - all same to me
Yassir (nossir) Arafat
Charles DeGaulle
Most current pro and college athletes
Don’t forget largely responsible for WWII.
Ryan Howard.
LOL Phillies fans suffer.
Ethel Merman also.
He followed that up with the Indian Removal Act and instituting the spoilage system for federal appointments. I'll give him credit for being the last president to pay off our debt but he certainly is not the icon portrayed in text books.
Thanks for taking the time to check out my bio! My job here at 9News is an ever changing role, and that’s the way I like it. Starting at 4:30am I co-anchor 9News First with Gregg Moss, then from 5 to 9, I report on traffic and breaking news, helping you get to work on time. I am also happy to announce that I am now a part of the 9News Weather Team, forecasting our Colorado weather. After the morning shows, I shoot, edit, write and report the Starting Over Series packages that profile members of our community that are making big life changes! Outside of these main roles, I also fill in as an anchor for 9News 4pm and the 9News Weekend Morning Shows.
I got my start in Sky9, flying over our gorgeous city twice a day for both 9News and 850 KOA. Alongside pilot Jimmy Negri, I ran the high definition camera and reported from the front seat on everything from car chases to crashes, to severe weather. One of the questions that I get the most is... “Why are you not in the helicopter anymore?”
Well, Sky9 is now shared by all the television stations in Denver and there are no reporters on board. We all share the view from the high-definition camera and use reporters in studio to talk about what we see. I do miss flying in the chopper, but being up in the air for so many years means I still understand the vantage point from the helicopter. I still occasionally fly in the helicopter for special coverage, like Race for the Cure.
Outside of 9News, flying is my passion and I am currently training and planning for a flight around the world in a single engine aircraft. Currently, I am a private pilot and I fly the Cirrus SR 22. I recently recreated Amelia Earhart’s transcontinental flight from Oakland, CA to Miami, FL as a completion of my instrument training hours. That was an amazing trip and I even ended up on the cover of Plane and Pilot Magazine!
I am very fortunate to work with dozens of charity groups on special projects and events, some of which include Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum, Denver Active 20/30, and The Morgan Adams Foundation. I have a soft spot for any charity that gives kids unique opportunities and helps improve their lives.
One more question that I always get is, “Is that your real name?” and “Are you related?”. Yes and Yes.
I am a distant relative of Amelia and my parents decided to name me after her. They wanted to give me a positive female role model to look up to and also give me a name that no one would forget! Having this name has been an amazing gift!
I love social media and would love to connect with you.
