There are probably many people in history who have received more credit than they deserved. Excluding any US Presidents in the past century (that would be too easy), what three historic figures do you think are the most overrated?
*Dont forget Joseph Smith!*
Justin Bieber, Joseph Smith - eh, close enough.
Gandhi is another good choice (as would be Nelson Mandela in the minor leagues), but I have to disagree about Mao. Anyone who killed more of his countrymen than Hitler and Stalin cannot be considered overrated as an historic figure. As a writer, yes, Mao is very much overrated.
In religious figures, one might say that Mohammed had too much military/historical influence to be overrated, leaving Mormonism’s Joseph Smith near the top of that heap. Still, Freud’s nearly successful attempt to replace Judaism with psychology might edge Smith from the top spot.
My apologies. I forgot to mention about your dad and the picture you posted. Tremendous. He sounded like one heck of a father. I know you are as proud of your father as I am of mine.
Cheers to these great men. They served with honor, distinction and humility. We were blessed to have such fathers.
