The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread ... there is no telling where it will go and that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!

I share your grumble!LOL
I only have one peanut sprout, but the corn’s doing good under the grow lights. Even the tomatoes are coming along, but the peppers - not a peep.
Have a Margarita for me too. My favorite vice.LOL
Just make sure the green house doesn’t get too hot inside.
Such good news. It’s amazing sometimes how fast some of this stuff starts.
This is my last post for a few days. Will be out of town for a business meeting at the State Capital.
Catch y’all later.

Where Blueberries go when they have been very very bad
I’ve tried 3 years to do a topsy turvy tomato...they die. I don’t know what I’m doing to them. I’ve decided to use my newest topsy turvy for lettuce plants. They seem to be doing fine.
Beautiful, just beautiful.
I tried the Topsy-Turvy planters for the past two summers, but didn’t get anything out side of root-rot for the plants in the bottom. Lat year, I planted pepper in the top, but they were still affected by the heat and didn’t grow well.
Great pictures— Love all those strawberry plants. Thanks for sharing.
So far so good with ours. The top plant had flowers until last Monday’s big windstorm blew them all off. They haven’t come back yet, though the plant is otherwise ridiculously healthy. The bottom plant has lots of flowers and little tomatoes.
Last year was the first time we had used them. Our open-air porch’s roof wraps around the east, north, and west sides of the house.
We hung one each of two varieties on both the east & west sides from the porch eaves; and planted 5 of each of the same two varieties in the garden.
The eastern morning sun plants produced first; the western afternoon sun plants produced the most; and each side’s single plant alone out-produced all the other 5 plants of its variety in the garden, combined. We were impressed.
We bought a couple more, plus two strawberry Topsy-Turveys, at season closeout, and will hang those, from a 4-armed garden stake. Not going to put tomatoes in the garden at all.
Anyone have any experience with using effective microorganisms?
I read good things, but have no experience with it

Is it an Avocado? . . . sure looks like it.
Sometimes, you gotta rely on mechanical methods to keep the stuff you worked to produce.

I do everything I can to encourage beneficial micro-organisms in my soil. And they are doing me proud with how my plants are turning out.
Also am using Rhizobium Leguminosarum Vicae and Bradyrhizobium Bolivar for the legumes. This is the test year. We'll see how that turns out.

I'll be trying those next year.

We have been using Dr Earth for 2 or 3 years but we haven’t done any test plots. It certainly hasn’t had any negative effects...
