Last year was the first time we had used them. Our open-air porch’s roof wraps around the east, north, and west sides of the house.

We hung one each of two varieties on both the east & west sides from the porch eaves; and planted 5 of each of the same two varieties in the garden.

The eastern morning sun plants produced first; the western afternoon sun plants produced the most; and each side’s single plant alone out-produced all the other 5 plants of its variety in the garden, combined. We were impressed.

We bought a couple more, plus two strawberry Topsy-Turveys, at season closeout, and will hang those, from a 4-armed garden stake. Not going to put tomatoes in the garden at all.

I had exactly the opposite success with my Topsy Turvey's. The summer heat here is too much for the plants, even with daily watering and hanging them in a semi-shaded area. They all go dormant.
OTOH, the same type pepper plants in my raised beds grew to 6ft tall and produced like crazy.

I took my planters down three weeks ago. I won't use them again.
