Iran ceases to be a country, thanks to Israeli submarines. A relatively weak cloud of fallout may make it to this country, so having some Iodine tablets around is good for that scenario (naturally, I have them too).
But I think that Israel will be ok, as they will take Iran out first - the effect will be the same, a relative weak cloud of fallout drifts over the planet. Israel’s intelligence is strong enough to know when the clock is up - as long as they don’t elect a European nutcase to run the country again, as they did in 1969, they should be able to respond properly. I think once that is settled, not much more will happen. The Russians are now very close to Israel and no one likes the Imams that are now running most of the countries in the neighborhood.
The only other possible, significant, fallout (so to speak), would be in oil prices, particularly if Iran is still able to give Saudi and the Sheiks a black eye. That will definitely be disruptive and inflationary, so that’s where having some inventory can be very helpful.
Rule 1 of survival: if in a bad place, MOVE.
Rule 2: if you can’t, do something sensible and proactive.
Yes rural survival is easier - start walking and get out of the concrete jungle already!
You might do some crop tests in that sandy red clay area. I have certain spots in my garden that are sandy and that's where things like beets, carrots and root type veggies grow the best.
Spread out the manure, turn your chickens loose in the area.
All bugs & weed seeds will soon be out, and the manure nicely scratched into the soil through the “chicken dance”.
Several reasons that libs hate preppers.
First (I believe) is that hated sense of independence. “Who is s/he to think s/he can do get by without others?” and what they’re really thinking is “I know I couldn’t”.
The other is that prepping, even owning a gun for self defense, is “blasphemous”. Their “deity” is the collective, solidified in the government. When you prepare to be self reliant, you’re saying that their god is not all powerful, and that’s blasphemous.
I have a libinlaw that was helping us move. She was madder than a wet hen when she saw the stuff we had stored up. Said it was “insane”. No... blasphemous, maybe, but entirely rational.

Yeah, I should get chickens again and I do love the fresh eggs. I used to love watching the chickens, following the tractor when the garden was turned, eating the bugs.

I just looked it up, the title is ( panic in year zero ) it was made in 1962 and was not a big hero type movie but was about what an average person can do and most likely will do by using the sense they were born with.

I agree, when I complained about our schools asking for MORE money (outside of Prop. 30) which jacked taxes on most business people or working couples 2%, she said, well, those who can afford private schools have a decision to make (vs. public schools). Effectively, she intimated that she and her husband (who works for an investment brokerage house) were in the same plight as the EBT crowd.
I pay this windbags lifetime pay, pension and healthcare which is an imputed millionaire, but she loathes the busineses that fund Government largesse.
It’s true, Liberals adore the State and have no idea where wealth is created. Their reliance on Jerry Brown, Barack Obama, Hugo Chavez or Uncle Joe Stalin is a cult-like, Progressive and utterly hopeless need to be taken care of. Good thing her husband has a good head on his shoulders, but I think she forbids guns in the home.
Since Jerry Brown released 45,000 criminals, there has been an uptick in crime, mainly petty, but an obvious increase nonetheless (who knew). I hope she wishes up, but until she’s personally attacked, she will use terms like non-supportive households and immigrants with low English skills.

what happens to the bulk of the USA if the S hits the F? most people live in appartments, hoa’s, or other non-agricultural arangements.

The first act of government will be to disarm citizens, without any regard whatsoever to the law. Even if they don’t people will be unable to leave point a to travel to point b. they will have no way to take their stash of supplies.
bottom line? s is s. and it is not pretty.
