Several reasons that libs hate preppers.
First (I believe) is that hated sense of independence. “Who is s/he to think s/he can do get by without others?” and what they’re really thinking is “I know I couldn’t”.
The other is that prepping, even owning a gun for self defense, is “blasphemous”. Their “deity” is the collective, solidified in the government. When you prepare to be self reliant, you’re saying that their god is not all powerful, and that’s blasphemous.
I have a libinlaw that was helping us move. She was madder than a wet hen when she saw the stuff we had stored up. Said it was “insane”. No... blasphemous, maybe, but entirely rational.
I agree, when I complained about our schools asking for MORE money (outside of Prop. 30) which jacked taxes on most business people or working couples 2%, she said, well, those who can afford private schools have a decision to make (vs. public schools). Effectively, she intimated that she and her husband (who works for an investment brokerage house) were in the same plight as the EBT crowd.
I pay this windbags lifetime pay, pension and healthcare which is an imputed millionaire, but she loathes the busineses that fund Government largesse.
It’s true, Liberals adore the State and have no idea where wealth is created. Their reliance on Jerry Brown, Barack Obama, Hugo Chavez or Uncle Joe Stalin is a cult-like, Progressive and utterly hopeless need to be taken care of. Good thing her husband has a good head on his shoulders, but I think she forbids guns in the home.
Since Jerry Brown released 45,000 criminals, there has been an uptick in crime, mainly petty, but an obvious increase nonetheless (who knew). I hope she wishes up, but until she’s personally attacked, she will use terms like non-supportive households and immigrants with low English skills.
You cannot fix weak, or suicidal.
This is one of the best descriptions I have read on why libs get so bent out of shape with regards to self-reliance.

Very well put and directly to the point. Your statement is exactly why I call them communists. They hate it when you call them that too, but that is exactly what they are. They are no longer freedom-loving Americans but rather collective socialist-communists. IMHO, I don’t believe the two ideological groups can co-exist.....it’s just a matter of time. Not IF, but WHEN...
