Be careful with that. I got some horse manure from a friend and almost infested my garden with Johnsongrass. If you can afford it buy bags of something like Black Kow which is treated and all weed seeds have been killed.

You might do some crop tests in that sandy red clay area. I have certain spots in my garden that are sandy and that's where things like beets, carrots and root type veggies grow the best.

Spread out the manure, turn your chickens loose in the area.
All bugs & weed seeds will soon be out, and the manure nicely scratched into the soil through the “chicken dance”.
