A simple fast food order turned into a prolonged police standoff in Wichita, KS, this morning.
According to reports, a couple went through the McDonalds drive-thru around 7:30 a.m. today. After pulling away from the window, they realized their order was wrong.
But instead of pulling into the parking lot and going into the restaurant, they pulled back into the drive-thru and attempted to cut off another vehicle in line.
This led to a verbal altercation between people in both vehicles. The driver of the car with the mixed-up order allegedly threw a crowbar at the other car. Her passenger then got out of their vehicle with a shotgun and fired once. The Wichita Eagle reports that the shot was fired into the drivers side door of the car they had cut off, while KAKE-TV says that the shot was fired into the air.
Regardless, it appears that no one in the other car was injured.
Police tracked the male suspect the one with the shotgun a house and began blocking off local streets while they await a search warrant.
UPDATE: According to this Tweet from KAKE reporter Jared Cerullo, around 3:00 p.m. ET, police finally arrested the suspect who had been holed up inside a house since this mornings incident.
“Nice” set of tats on the perps (She has a bunch, too. Look closely if you can. That isn’t a necklace). What is it with ink these days? I’m starting to think tats make you Honorary Amish. But I know and love friends that have them so I don’t know.
The last time I went to a McDonalds I ordered the same thing I always do. Two McDoubles (dollar menu) and a small coke. Well they repeated back to me two double cheese burgers (non-dollar menu) and a small coke. Well, I didn’t realize the mistake until I was rolling away from the screen. I tried to fix it at the window with the cashier. She said, “No, you said, two double cheeseburgers, and that is what your getting.” At this point I didn’t pay yet, so I simply just drove away. I felt bad, but what was I supposed to do, argue? This was about a year ago, never went back.
Hopefully to Ruths Chriss
Just local cops pretending to be the big boys.
LOL. I’ll have to send this to our daughter and SIL. They moved to Wichita last year. He. He.
Pulling a shotgun and shooting at another car?
Everybody knows you drive back to the window and pull the moron who got your order wrong out of the window by the shirt collar, then stomp him in the ribs a few times with some good Carolina engineer boots.
Why are all these police officers wearing military combat gear? They are NOT military.
This sight pisses me off. It speaks volumes about where we’re headed as a (formerly) free nation.
The Mickey D’s around here used to ask you to pull away from the window and when your order was complete - they’d bring it out to you.
I would politely decline. “No Thanks.” The pimple face would stare at me blankly and go get the manager. The manager would ask me to move up and they would bring out the order. Again I would say; “No thanks.” He’d ask why and I’d explain.
One time a crew cheif wasn’t buying it. “We DO NOT get get the orders wrong! Move up!” I asked him what I’d ordered. He read it back to me. He got it wrong. “SEE!!!” I gave him what for. For sure.
That was then. Nowadays? They don’t ask you to pull up any more. And they are much better at getting the right order out on time.
What would happen if an innocent person(male or female) dressed in similar clothes, no weapons, and just strolled through a shopping mall or car dealership?
I’ll bet the Feds/Blues would find some excuse to detain(abuse) that person, search(ransack) his home and kill his dog(s)!
“That light at the end of the tunnel is a speeding train”!
I bet they wish now that they’d have just ordered a pizza delivery to the trailer.
Kids these days got no respect for tradition.
I used to work at a McD’s in my college days and customers can get REALLY nasty if their fast food isn’t perfect and as fast as they want it.
Take it from me. I try never to talk to him before he’s had his cups of coffee. It’s dangerous!
What exactly is the purpose of camouflage uniforms on peace offices for the city of Wichita?
Maybe they glow in the dark?? :)
